Where on SL earth have they gone??

Hi,

I have a problem, I just rebuilt my store and I put my skybox up and put the standard items on my skybox that I usually do.... however... once the place was all done and tidy... I decided that I wanted to send the skybox up higher.... so i sent each item up to 450m, with the intention of sending my sky ground up to meet them...... or so I thought.

I then realised that I had actually sent them 450m in another direction, not up.... so I flew to try and locate them.... but there arnt 450m in that direction in the sim.... so I cant find them.

So now im in a postion where I am probably littering someone elses air space with my junk, plus, that afore mentioned junk, which i want and need cant be found, so I cant retreive it.

Do i need to wait for the owner of the land on which the items now reside, to send the items back?

Where have the items gone? and how do i retreive them??

This may sound silly, but have you checked the last place you had them? I tend to make this mistake, and somehow the system seems to recognize I didn't really mean to send stuff that far away. It somehow materializes back where I started. Of course, that may just mean I have a little SL angel sitting on my shoulder a lot of the time.

Something I consider doing to retrieve an expensive piece of equipment I lost somewhere: opting into the 'evil' sheepbot everybody is going on about. It would save me a lot of trouble if I could just do a search on my name and find stuff I mistakenly left rezzed in-world somewhere I can't remember.

Another thing you can try is getting a Scan Foo from CyrstalShard and flying around your sim at various levels looking for objects owned by you. There is a limit distance and I forget off the top of my head what it is, but it is a very helpful little item for exactly these situations. Also, items owned by you will show on the mini-map, so you can also use that as a guide.

Relog and check lost and found. REZ the most recent items from it. Don't depend on the old names

Check the mini map. Fly around if you have to. Items you own will be blue.

Dunno if this will help but I was thinking rez a box, sit on it, and send it to whatever direction you sent everything else and see where you end up. If it doesn't work then oh well it was fun anyways.

Some fantastic suggestions... i will try them all.

I have t say , i especially like the sound of the rezzing and sitting on a bix... why didnt i think of that??

Have you checked 0,0,0 in the sim in question?

The box trick sorted the prob, i ended up sat right on top of one of my items.... thanx sooooo much!!
