So if I get it right, you want to post a private IM convo to a group first and then across SL?? Why would you do that?? I don't think that's very ethical. Correct me if I misunderstood.

a private conversation i had with someone was posted to a group ..a group i do not belong to - this does not sound right to me and am concerned is all.

Isn't it against TOS to post private conversations in any way? Although terminology of calling it 'Instant Message' as opposed to 'Private Message' would help clear that up.

Can't find anything in the TOS. I remember doing it as well, someone was exceptionally rude and offensive to me so I copied and pasted the convo and showed it to my guard. Problem solved. But thats the only time I actually used it.

It is against Second Life Community Standards


4. Disclosure
Residents are entitled to a reasonable level of privacy with regard to their Second Lives. Sharing personal information about a fellow Resident --including gender, religion, age, marital status, race, sexual preference, and real-world location beyond what is provided by the Resident in the First Life page of their Resident profile is a violation of that Resident's privacy. Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums.

I know the SL TOS has a rule about posting chat logs within SL. I know this because i've seen people get in trouble by LL for it. You can post it to a external source such as a blog or a forum, but not within SL or it's forums.
