Funny Disconnected State when Camping

So I am camping, return to my computer, I can see my AV, it's still there working, I can right click on him, get the circle menu, but I can't issue any commands, like "stand up". So I am hosed and cannot collect my pay. Anyone else experiencing this?

It happens a lot. If you bring up the mini map, I bet it was all red too. You got disco'd from the servers without it being a 'boot from.' Could be anything, like their or your network hating each other. Happened to me a lot this morning, which is why I am now offline and pondering City of Heroes, since the Beta Grid is also down.

The easiest way around it is to stop camping! Is that really why you play SL anyway? Try spending the evening at the Ivory Tower learning to build and you'll never have to waste your time sitting aroung like a Zombie again! Nost campers don't realize that they are killing the resourses in the entire SIM and that most residents think of them as litter. lol

Your problem may be related to the current issue with the grid and the servers.

Did you know there is another way to make free Linden dollars at a much faster pace?
Go to the Search button and type in Hippie Pay or Hippie Bank. Either go to the sim with the Hippie Bank or find a sim in the list that contains a colorful Hippie atm machine. Once you find one of these atms right click on it and select touch. Click the pop-up that appears which will take you to a website. Take advantage of their current offers and you may receive 1,000 Linden dollars in as little as a half of an hour. (The dating profile sites, lol.) Except for a limited few everyone on the forums is verified, there's really no excuse for camping.

I'm sorry, but its true. There are some nice clubs that I have trouble getting to because the Sim is always full. if they didn't have the camping chairs, REAL customers could actually visit the place.

All campers do is clog up the system and contribute to lag.

This problem occurs to probably everyone at some time or another. Last night i had it happen about 4 times. I even built a HUD with a scripted flashing light so i can tell ahead of time that i lost connection before the mini-map turns red. Seeing that the flashing light's script is kept server side, if it ever stops working for me then i know i lost connection to it. It's a simple gadget but helpful.

Only explanation i can give is what i like to call the "Network Fart" or a "bubble in the tube" theory. Somewhere your connectivity with SL was interrupted. This problem will not always effect your messengers, or web browser, but will toss you off SL. I never could figure out what causes it except tons of things are being streamed to your computer from SL and it clogs the tubes.

Well, I might phrase it different, but I agree. When I first came into SL, I did some camping to get a few lindens - but once I started to sell stuff I maded, an found a small job an stuff, I made Lindens at a far, far faster pace then I ever did while camping.

Maybe it's attractive as a "somethign for nothing" idea, I dunno. Still seems you can make some cool stuff an find a good placed to sell it, then when you'e afk, it'll still make money for ya..

I think the ones that wash windows or sweep floors or do gardening are kinda cute, and give some ambiance like they're doing something useful for the business.

I used to camp before I knew better. What annoyed the heck out of me was the number of people sitting in the camping chairs all blinged out enough to blind a person - as if the lag caused by their sheer numbers weren't enough of a problem.

I like reading these posts about people having problems with getting disconnected after a hard night of camping only to find out they haven't received a single L$ for their troubles. Maybe if it happens to enough of them, more frequently, people will stop bothering with it. So to the OP, I say, tough luck - go find something useful to do.

Anyhow they had them there for at least a month before I ever heard of them anywhere else.
