Is it possible to pay another resident outside in-world? That is, can it be paid in this SecondLife website or some other website? The reason is my in-world game program is not working, so I can only use the web to access the in-world for now.

As far as I know, this is not possible, at least on a general level.

I know that SL Exchange has an object that allows you to transfer money from your av to your SLX account using their web site. However, it only works to send the money to SLX (probably through their money-handling SL avatar), not to anyone else.

Also, it requires giving debit permissions to SLX. Giving that permission means they can KEEP taking my money all they want, so obviously I would only recommend doing this with someone you really trust.

Hm, i am not sure that i understand the question right lol. But i think there are 2 ways to pay money to another resident.or 3 is better :) directly by clicking his profile and pay. If you have an account at ginkos financial -i dont know may the other resident need a account there too - you can transfer money from account to account or last but not least you can pay via paypal.

If I understand the OP's question correctly, the only method available to pay another resident outside of SL is through PayPal

as sandra mentioned if you both have ginko accounts you can transfer between accounts
from the ginko website

"We have implemented a new check to the Transfer and Sell L$ features that limit them for use only by people who have had their Ginko Financial account for more than 30 days.

If you have had your account for less than 30 days, you may still deposit and withdraw and use all of the other features as you normally would. "

So yes they both need accounts, and both accounts need to be over 30 days old, and it will transfer from your account into theirs. They can then withdraw it from Ginko.

They are taking away the forums... it could be worse, they could be taking away the forums AND Second Life...

Thanks for the answer, I guess there isn't an easy way to do it. Ginkofinancial requests both residents have an account there. SLexchange is paying for purchases. Wish that SL website can allow you to make payment, since you can buy or sell L$ and it is secured with login verification. I would be a nice feature for SL website to have.

Yes You Can

YES YOU CAN - I use it with my Alt account. it is called Real World Interface Device and it works as advertised and I swear by it!

I just pop-off an email with the payee's name in the subject and the ammount in the body - boom - they're paid.

Look at it here:
http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=152239

It also allows you to IM in world from outside - in fact, I will IM you (if you are inworld) right now and tell you to check this thread. LOL

You might want to give SLeek a try (http://delta.slinked.net/). It's supposed to be a light-weight client, although it doesn't specifically mention whether it can handle money transactions or not.

All the normal cautions apply: it's a third-party client so there's always the risk it's rigged to steal your password, etc.
