HI... I'd like to know what it takes to get my inventory back that is now "unable to attach item beacuse it's missing from the database"? Of course it has to be Christmas Eve and no one is around to help out....but then that happens when it's not a holiday. No matter what it is... I am now missing an AO, hair, several huds, a dance chimera loaded with dances, one of my more pricy shoes/boots is missing, jewlery that I was wearing.... just about anything/everything attached (except for a prim flexi skirt did survive)at the time of the crash. I was in a store looking at Chubz shoes when the crash happened. Needless to say I am very upset at the situation..... I happen to work for my Linden to be able to get the things that are nice and in a few short mins it's all gone due to some stupid crash??? I've cleaned cache(several times) and relogged, tried re attaching the items and they are simply GONE. All these things may not seem much but when you add a 800L AO,300L hair,a 360some Linden multi gadget hud that my newly adopted lil girl bought me for a Christmas gift, a chim that is loaded with 6-9 dances.. each costing AT LEAST 150-300 each plus the cost of the chimera itself, the jewlery.. not sure on pricing for that, but the necklace was a limited special edition from a store, and a 500-800L pair of Minx shoes/boots it all adds up.....do the figuring yourself. This is not the first time or the first AV I have had this happen to. As well as having two PAID accounts and all this I get no replies from "live request" and no one is conveintly able to help out. So, since this is NOT the first time it's happened I'd like to get my things back and have an explination as to WHY this keeps occuring and why it HASN'T been resolved from occuring again. Yes, I am highly upset with the entire situation!!! The Lindens want our money and our memberships, but are unwilling to reply to a help request and help when it is needed.... All I am EVER told is "file a bug report" etc... Well EACH TIME I DO, NOT A DARN THING HAPPENS OR IS FIXED, so what's the use or purpose of filing one? So they can say.. yes we received your report and have read it?... well Do more than just READ MAKE CHANGES WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED BEFORE YOU GO "UPDATING/UPGRADING" the game.

I missed some items onces. But as told a clear cache and restart of the game brought it back. Futher more nothing like that happened to me.
So I go for the last option in your poll.

There seem to be a few different cases of missing inventory: - missing from database
Happens when the garbage collection process hickups. It seems the Lindens frequently swoop through the assets, looking for items that are orphaned (they don't belong to anyone's inventory any longer). When they come across those, they get moved to a sort of purgatory where they're not accessible anymore (which is why you get the error), but they're still there to get restored in case it turns out not to be orphaned after all. Apparantly just getting the error should kick off a restore process that takes about 30 minutes to an hour, if after that, the item hasn't been restored yet, then you'll need to contact them with either the Asset ID (you can do that if you have full permissions to it), or the complete tree to the items from your inventory (ie My Inventory/Animations/Poses/ item called My AO).

I always write down the number of items I have before I log off and I compare it to what's there when I log in. It can easily differ in a few hundreds at some times (never encouraging ) but after a few hours it always seems to go back to the normal count.
- loosing inventory when/after rezzing
If a sim crashes, there's a good chance it'll roll back to a previous state which seems to be anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. If you rezzed something in that time before it crashed, it's very likely that whatever you rezzed is gone because time rolled back to a point to where you hadn't rezzed it yet. Or the bug where you'll rez something but it never ends up showing up in-world. This isn't really inventory loss because the fact that it's gone from inventory is normal if it's no copy (you rezzed it), it's more sim asset loss and doesn't seem like anyone ever gets anything back lost this way 
- actual missing inventory
The items are actually gone from your inventory, they're not there. I think this is one of the cases where you're out of luck as well 
It seems like you're experiencing the first cases which is a solvable one so everything isn't lost yyet  . You might have to ask on Linden Answers who to contact specifically, because I remember there being one certain Linden who took care of those cases, but I can't actually remember the name or seem to find it  .
