Were'nt they supposed to have a concert? The BBC Story said 'in the coming months' but I haven't heard a peep. Anyone know what happened, or who they're partnering with to pull this off?

I know Rivers Run Red is the one putting the thing together. My guess is for an event this size, it's going to take quite a bit of planning. A few months ago there was talk of the ability to have your camera in a busy sim without your avatar, making it possible to attend events without causing lag, but I know that's still a way off.

Or maybe we could get a transcript of Mr Le Bon singing? With a little imagination, it would be just like being there.

Is there any reason we can't do a video stream within SL of SL, from another sim?

Just thinking, like some of us did for the SLCC, it would enable loads more people to participate. As a child of the 80's, and a Duran fan, I'd be happy with just that. I can think of a few non-SL players wo might well tune in too.

None at all. I saw this done in the Preview Grid before video streaming went live on the Main Grid. It works quite well.

One of the problems with SL-to-SL video streaming is incompatable video formats. I believe SL outputs to a non-QT format, but requires a QT stream for playback. So, you'd need to convert the output movie to QT, then upload it to a stream server, then view it in SL. But, I don't believe you can do all that in one go - output to movie, convert to QT, and upload to a stream server - as a stream (you'd need to actually stop the movie output and finalize the initial movie file first.) I coud be wrong about that.

The better option is to skip the SL output movie and go with a second computer to process the SL computer's video directly into a QT stream which then gets sent to a server and back into SL... using dedicated internet connections.

Its tricky and a pain but doable. We helped do it for the Suzanne Vega interview as well as the other 3 interviews done by our client, The Infinite Mind.
