This is a 'sort' of follow-up to last night's thread 'Appalling Lag..'

I thought I'd tweek my preference settings and see what might happen, the simple answer..not a lot..except for...

Having reset the settings back the way they were. It now seems every time I touch something or an object rez's, it's accompanied by puffs of red or sometimes blue smoke. This is a bit of a problem when using for instance my helicopter as the rotor and cabin are constantly shrouded in this red smoke, sailing a yacht involves clouds of smoke as the boat moves through the water and you wouldn't believe what happens when shopping in a mall. Anyone else experiencing this 'environmental' problem, anyone know how to disable it..?

Hi Perre.. you have switched on 'Updates' which i think is in the client menu... check in there to see if updates is checked. Everything in SL which writes to the server regularly, shows up when this is checked.. I think red is high level.. blue is lower level. Useful tool for seeing what is slowing you down... but a pain when you dont want to know

Thanks Imogen, you're absolutely right, I had switched on 'Updates from the Client Menu (Debug). I guess that explains the vast red clouds from the helicopter and the tiny puffs from the 'Eric Linden' ferns.

Must read the whole of the Wiki..next time

Thanks again, Perre
