Hi All,
Started playing a little over a week ago, and have been reading the posts here like crazy trying to get up to speed.
I'm hoping someone would be so kind to point me in the right direction with a first land question. I've ponied up for a premium account, and am considering taking Linden up on it's offer for first land.
My question is what can go on it (what will it support)? A house? A tiny little box? Most of the links I've found on Google usually just mention buying it and then selling for a profit. Does Anyone keep it? Can you rent it out as a small but cheap flop? (not horribly worried about a place to "live", but I wouldn't mind having it make a few pennies over time...)
If there are any decent articles someone can point me too, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you! Brewer

The prim limit on the place is 117, to give you a rough idea. Not very big, so it depends on the shape of the 512m2 lot and what you are going to do with it.

Loniki Loudon does some very light prim prefabs for 512s, but I think her 24 prim skyboxes are ideal if you're thinking of settling on (not profiting from) First Land. Settling in the sky is the only way to avoid feeling imprisoned by all the banlines that will inevitably appear...and at that prim count, you can actually fit in the bare essentials. A couple of couches, chair, coffee table, rug, bed...TV...provided you buy/make low-prim stuff. (Not that you should be so conventional. ) If you aim to buy and sell first land for profit, you should be able to get 2500L absolute *minimum* -- whatever you buy -- but you'll maximise resale value buy aiming for flatter, squarer land, preferably next to protected land (road or water)...but that last criteria is difficult to meet unless you're a patient buyer. I made approx. 6K on my first land...but it was waterfront. My friend got 5500L for her really badly shaped roadside plot (it surprised me, but it was roadside I guess).

Yes i will endorse those last two posts Brewer. Remember that creation price for land is around $L4.27 based on a mid price range of $280 1. ($1000 is usually enough to purchase a new Sim at auction) Therefore the creation cost of say 512 square meters is $2,186. The free market will usually stand a range of between $2,500 for PG land up to around $4,000 for green flat mature water or roadside land. In real life that is still only a few dollars profit but start as you mean to go on......

I have *JUST* completed a 43 prim house that SHOULD fit on first-land. This should leave 74 prims for furnishings, and it's relatively conservative footprint should leave you a little extra space on the land to set up some lawn chairs or plant life. 25m X 12.5m I'm going to be selling these houses under my "Ecclectic Randomness" brand, for just L$ 100... which seems to be pretty cheap from what I could find on SLExchange. Let me post a link to some as-yet-unedited pics of the finished house. (note, the furnishings in the pics are just for show, and are not included) http://temp.zebragrrl.com/secondlife/littlehouse/oh and here's the floorplan pic. Features:- 2 rooms (10m x 10m each) - parquet hardwood floors
Livingroom (3 windows) Bedroom (2 windows, opaque from outside)
- Covered porch
- Large rooftop "Grassy yard" (20m x 10m) - awning covered 'picnic' area
- Built in, touch activated doors
- 2 built in, voice activated, ceiling lamps
- Wrought Iron railings all around.
If you're interested, drop me an IM in world, or a PM on the forums here.

Hi all,
I own two adjacent parcels in a first land sim (not near water or roads - as far as I can tell my sim has neither). Right now the sim is beautifully chaotic as people build and experiment with stuff. I have a really nice super low prim house from Loniki Loudon - I highly recommend visiting her main store!
Here's my question:
I get offers pretty much every day for purchasing my land. At some point in these new land sims does most/all of the first land get bought up? Does it stay this chaotic/insane, or do some rich land speculators come in and buy everything up?
I'm just wondering. I'll consider selling at some point as long as I can make more than enough money to buy a similar sized parcel elsewhere.

Thanks for the responses!
Especially on what to look for. All first land is apparently NOT created equal. (kinda like RL, huh?)
I think I'm leaning towards getting something put together and trying to rent it out dirt cheap. It'll be sparse, but somebody could call it home. And heck, if I can get $50L-$100L a week, I'd be happy.
Now to just set about being patient and finding the right plot...
Thanks Again! Brewer

It stays chaotic for quite awhile in newly created sims. I was one of the first to buy in my sim and it changed almost daily for at least 3 months. It has kind of settled down a bit now.

How often are new Sim's created in SL? Do parcels of first land come up in the beginning that are near roads or water or is that prime real estate only available for sale outside of first land parcels? Just wondering if I should be patient and wait for some better real estate to become available before I buy my property. Thanks.

Land that has been abandoned or siezed is sometimes put up for sale as First Land in older sims, but most First Land seems to come from new sims.
