Hi all,

Ok...decided to try out a new skin which was no modify.Since this is my first skin since joining SL I assumed it meant that I could not alter it in any way but could remove it and revert back to my old self.Apparently that is not the case and cant remove it.I can change the body skin but the face is still there and cant be messed with in appearance options. The skin is not bad but its just not me and I feel embaresed at such a radical change to me.I am in hiding :) ...Any ideas anyone on how to revert or simply just regain control of my features ?

Skin is not removable, only replaceable. To revert to your old skin, you'll need to find that in your clothing folder, and simply wear it, and it will replace the unwanted skin you're currently wearing.

Your get rid of one skin by wearing another. Presumably you were using one of the Library avatar skins before, so you may have to sift through a few to find the one you had (or maybe you'll discover a new favorite!).

There are also good skins on the market, but I find that the more expensive ones end up being the least appealing because they're usually no-mod and recognizably one or another model from ... so then you end up seeing too many slightly misshapen doubles of yourself.

Excatly Qie, it was one of the more up market type but the non-mod caught me off gaurd completly.I am roaming around for a mod skin hoping to find myself or something like myself :)

Even mod skins tend to be only slightly so...you can adjust the skin tone somewhat, or perhaps the color of lips and nails for female avs. Shape can really alter the appearance of a skin, but if you're looking for a skin that is good quality and unique, you'll probably have to get something custom. And, I'm sorry, you may be able to fiddle a bit more with the default skins, but they're pretty much universally ugly.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Why would you mod the skin anyways? Most high skin is no mod and it is your shape that you want to mod to look the way you want. Make sure the shape you have is mod if you bought one and all shapes are mod in the library in your inventory. Shape and skin are both separate things.

Your previous shape should be in inventory somewhere, so I'd dig a bit before you try to redo it. It may have a weird default name, if you never specifically changed it.

It's really a good idea to take a copy of yourself and then you can go back to how you were.

Well, indeed, many are no-mod, and many are zero alpha. So, yes, you can change your shape so you look a little different (although only a very restrictive set of facial shapes will look reasonable with any detailed skin), but really, these skins are very recognizable. And without alpha, you're basically stuck with whatever coloration the designer chose--which seems always either just a little too dark or just a little too light.

So after recognizing "my" high-end skin on other avatars, I was driven to find a mod-able, semi-transparent skin for *much* less, and customized it to look distinctively "me."

Maybe the skin designers have it right and most customers can't be bothered to fiddle with their skin settings, but it seems weird to me that the high-end skins should have the least flexibility and thus the highest incidence of look-alikes.

(Yes, there are fully *custom* skins, but c'mon: One could own sims for the price of a good custom skin, and have enough US$ left to pay tier with the interest.)
