Where's my STUFF?! Rezzed Items Going Missing!

I know my SL "household" is not the only one experiencing this problem following last week's update... After the update, rezzed items in our houehold simply vanished, including...
a high-end security system (how ironic)
an entire suite of furniture in a room

Last night, some friends of ours were enjoying their sky-box when... it disappeared out from under them, leaving their furniture hanging in the sky! *poof*

Checking with our region owner for items that may have turned up somewhere in HIS inventory, he found, instead, that his Texas Hold 'Em table was gone...

Obviously, the vendors are under no obligation to replace these items... I'm certain LL won't address it... Ideas? Thoughts? Similar occurences?

And just fyi... non-rezzed items remaining in inventory don't appear to have been subject to the same problem.

HELP!

Sounds suspiciously like one of the dreaded sim rollbacks, except your friends skybox seems to have the symptoms reversed! I'd expect the earlier box to be restored and the more recent furniture to disappear :(

Haha, this happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was standing in my fabulous skyhouse contemplating some redecorating, and *poof*! As I plummeted to the ground I couldn't help but wonder, what the heck happened!

Personally I took it as a sign that instead of redecorate, I ought to rebuild, so I built something completely different. Still, it was an amusing/strange situation. And yes, all my furniture and furnishings were still there, just the house itself had vanished. I wasn't terribly upset since the furniture is what I'd paid for - if that had vanished, I'd have been upset.

FWIW, the house never did turn up in my trash or my lost & found.

What I would love to know is, does this stuff happen just on island estates or does it happen on the mainland? It seems to me that most of the inventory problems reported in the forums are from people who rent/lease on islands, when they mention the location at all. I haven't had any problems at all, but I stay on the mainland 98% of the time.

Re: the skybox. Sounds to me like someone with the ability to, selected the skybox and accidently deleted it.

Then again, my house mysteriously flew into the air one night when the scripts on the doors went bonkers when I "locked" the build. So could be a confused script too I suppose.

The missing items in your inventory or poof on rez could be load on the asset db...and the items might be at 0,0,0 on the sim (I found a couple of my things on the corner of my sim under the waves LOL)

Could be a lot of things but could also easily be operator error.

File a bug report with very specific information and hope for the best.

An excellent point, Annabelle! I should've noted that we're on an island, as well as our region/estate owner (logically, I guess... lol). Our friends with the missing skybox are also on a private island, though they're on a different sim and region.

Soooo.. what's the significance, do you think?

BTW, thanks for all your input, folks, I appreciate it!

i found half my golf course gone the other day and today none of the boots I wear can actualy be worn as in there is no "wear" option on them

not sure if this is something others are experiencing as I am using first look viewer so its possible the wear thing is related to that

(i guess i should go post that in the first look forum.. hehe)

My disappearing skybox happened in a mainland sim. Nobody has or had permission to modify my stuff but me. And if I had deleted it accidentally it would have been in my trash folder, which it wasn't - I checked as soon as it vanished, and I checked repeatedly for several days.

I have also searched the sim over to make sure it didn't somehow get moved, like to 0,0,0 or away up in the sky. Nope. Just magically gone.

However, the mysteries of (second) life keep it interesting, right? ;-)

Wilhelm - that's a bug in First Look. Click on the item again and you should get the right drop down menu with "wear"

Well, this morning I placed a bed in a skybox, and a few minutes later I got a message saying it had been auto-returned. OK, no big deal. I had the wrong group tag on, and that skybox is on a parcel owned by a friend, and has a 10 min auto-return set. But when I checked my inventory... nada. No bed. Simply didn't exist.

After looking all over, I tried logging off and back on again, and <poof> there it was, in my lost and found, safe and sound. I put the right tag on and had no problem putting the bed where it belonged.

But for a while there, I thought for sure I had lost a no-copy bed worth thousands of L$.

Yes its happening on the mainland

3 slot machines, two teleport pads, and a high end bed simply vanished. Not all at once, but over several days. The slot machines were copy so no problem. The teleport pads I built myself so no problem. After no response from LL, the vendor took care of me on the bed. He said he's had numerous complaints about the same problem from other customers. I wish there was some way to back up your property and your build.

You could back up all your copyable items, just stick them all in a box and store them on your land or ideally a 16sqm plot in a stable sim on the mainland. Alternatively transfer copies of all the stuff you want to back up to an alt. Regarding non copyable items there is not allot you can do other than IM the person you purchased it from and grovel for a replacment. All of the items I sell have copy perms but I am still paranoid about them 'vanashing' from my inventory one day so I have backups in my SLB and SLX boxes, plus another on a 16sqm plot and i've also sent copies of all sellable items to 2 alts. Maybe I am over cautious but If lost my inventory during some freak occurance it would cost me allot of money in the long run.

I had something strange happen to me yesterday. I finished editing a couple of flaming prims and attached them to my avi. I logged out and back in again, and they were gone. Not in my inventory, trash can , or returned items...and not still attached to my Avi.

I then tried TPing (with a teleporter) from my "build platform" (at 200 meters) to the ground to look around down there. When I was done I TPed (teleporter again) up to my house, but instead of going to my house I was TPed to the corner of the SIM. >_<
odd....so I TPed back to my home position (house) and tried it again.....(glutton for punishment...hehe)
and I was sent to the sim corner again!

I cleared cache and logged out.
Checked my email and noticed that someone had returned two items to my lost and found.

thinking it was my two flaming prims from earlier , I logged in again to see what it was.
LOL...it was the animated flashes from my teleportation animation....when I pulled the object from my returned items folder, they flashed on the ground and disappeared.
LOL

nice

I had to remake the flaming prims all over again. :-p
