This is very odd as i was on a minute agao to send funds to a friend and had no problems at that time so it must be something that happened recently...

Not only do I see 0 people online at both the login screen and on the website, but I've also been getting the message "cannot connect to simulator" for the past 2 hours.
Rather frickin' annoying, since I can log on 2 alts I've got that are basic accounts, yet am NOT able to log in the one PAYING account I have.

You're right! I can log on to my alt (which doesn't have anything, no money, not skins, nothing). But I cannot log onto my premium account.
Wait... I just got on with my primary account. Maybe we're good now?

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle...or aunt, in this case. Here I am, immersed in the forums since SL won't let me in....saw the previous response, and figured I'd frustrate myself again....and weeeeee!! It worked!!
