I'm realtively new to SL, and I have been bitten by the building bug. I was wondering how exactly you sell a product. What i mean is, is that I've seen things for sale, but I dont know how a vendor can sell the copies.
For instance: say so-n-so wants to sell furniture. He puts the furniture he created on display at his shop. How can he have mulitple copies of his funiture for people to buy?How does he set it up to where people can buy as many copies as they wish?
Thanks ahead of time to whoever answers!

If you look at the "general" tab when you edit an item, it will pretty much answer your questions. There you can set it to sell a copy, and whether you allow the future owner to modify it, make copies of it, or sell it/give it away to someone else. (be aware that if you give both copy and transfer permissions they can sell unlimited copies. That's pretty much like giving all the rights to the item away). Then just set the price, and you're set. If someone right clicks on the item they can buy it for the price you want. Good luck!

Look in the "general" tab in the editor in the lower half of the box. There are checkboxes for setting something for sale, setting a price and choosing to sell the original, a copy or contents of an object. There are also checkboxes here for permissions to indicate if the buyer can make copies, modify or give away/resell.

Mmkay, so some questions about the Generaly tab options: When it asks me what version I wish to sell (original, copy, etc), I choose copy, correct? That way the original doesnt get taken?
Also, I want the purchaser to be able to modify mainly. To be able to change the colors and all that. So I would just check modify?
Thanks for all the help!
PS: didnt mind the Tilling comment...it's kewl to run into someone with the same last name as yours in sl!

From: Slayora DeSantis Mmkay, so some questions about the Generaly tab options: When it asks me what version I wish to sell (original, copy, etc), I choose copy, correct? That way the original doesnt get taken? Correct! You'd only want to check that original option really if you wanted a limited one-off sale for a special item. From: someone Also, I want the purchaser to be able to modify mainly. To be able to change the colors and all that. So I would just check modify?
Correct again. Again I will emphasise what was said before. Do not sell items with Copy and Transfer/resell checked together or you are giving people a license to sell on infinite copies of your product!
