Entire inventory lost

I cleared my cache earlier today. I do it once a week in order to keep SL running smoothly. Today when I logged in my inventory was empty except for the folders. They're all empty. Now I know that after clearing the cache it can take a while for the contents to show up in my inventory but this time nothing's there :( Looks like I've lost alot of work and other stuff.

I went to the support centre in an attempt to get hold of someone using the live chat but couldn't find a link for it. I'm a premium account and pay US$ 40 / month tier. Am I in that limbo category of being premium but with none of the support?

I've nothing to offer by way of help, but only sympathy. Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry. I hope like hell that they can fix this for you. :(

I can't login right now but I'm not sure I want to after reading that, when i think of how many L$'s worth of stuff even I have after a few months, it must be terrible for it to suddenly go. I know live help have times for it, which are silly times for us in the uk, but i'm sure they'd be online now? Unless they can't login of course =)

The Live Chat should still be open right now. Try filing a support ticket. If i recall correctly, the option for live chat should present itself at that juncture. if not, they will get back to you at their earliest convenience.

I'd wait a day and see if it reappears. I had trouble logging in earlier today and the blog mentioned some problems with teleporting and whatnot. It's probably just the asset server dropping the ball on sending you your inventory list. Don't panic yet. My fingers are crossed for you that it's not as bad as it looks at the moment.

Is there any particular file or group of files in the cache that the viewer keeps the inventory information in? In future I could save that file when I go to clear my cache.

I'm sure there is one but I don't know what it is.

When you can get back in, go to an empty sim and clear cache and relog several times, clearing your cache each time.

You need to establish a good connection to the inventory servers.

Sorry for your loss, I know how you feel, having myself lost quite a bit of my stuff to the "unable to rez object. Object missing from database" bug. I have stopped all creative activities in SL and tiered down to nil since the billiant technical team haven't been able to restore anything for 4 months now. I wish you good luck in recovering your inventory.

This exact problem (among others) happened to me last night.

Does your cursor show the hourglass when it's on your Inventory window?

If you just wait a while (in my case, took about 15 minutes, maybe more) the missing inventory will show up.

I think this is related to the problems LL is reporting in the Announcements. Other things that happened to me at the same time:

- Failure to rez objects
- Failure to teleport
- "Downloading Clothing" message and borked avatar appearance
- Failure to put on/take off clothing

Clearing cache and re-logging gives you something to do, but I don't think that it is a solution this time.

I've got my talons crossed in the hope that my inventory will reappear. At least the stuff I sell is in my vendors. I can recover that much. The rest... including my favourite blue dragon avatar seems to have disappeared.

I have had precisely two incidents of losing my entire inventory. Both cases cleared themselves up after I gave up in a fit and took a nap for a few ours. Hopefully a little time is all you need. If not...... :(

You access Live Chat through the Solution Finder. Go through all the steps - it doesn't really matter what you choose/type in, you just want the continuation buttons to come up - and it'll be on the last screen.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I don't think so. The way I understand it is your inventory info is saved on the server side not the client side. Otherwise I would have different inventories when I signed in with FirstLook vs. the regular viewer...which I don't.

I would take a break from SL for the day and see if the issue corrects itself.

Either way that sucks! Sorry!!

Update: things are slowly reappearing. Looks like Psyra was right.
