I havent looked at land sales in a long time but I happened to do it today. As most of you know there are a billion 16m square lots for sale for a million L suposedly being rented for ad space. Where the hell are these $@(&^holes finding these little 16m parcles to begin with and does anyone actually use them for adds? Do you think LL should put a stop to useing land sale adds for rentals of all kinds? I put a poll on this because LL claims to actually pay attention to them

I assume they (#####s) buy 512, devide it, use 16, sell the rest.

I've bought a number of ad plots at greatly inflated prices just to get rid of them from around my land.

There are a number of them still left, I've contacted the owners of them and they don't want to sell them or they want a million lindens for them. So if I can't buy them out and they have really obnoxious ad's then I make sure they can't be seen from my land.

Those things are pure visual polution.

I noticed recently that land search has now divided into mainland and island searches, so the Lindens do listen.

I would prefer that land sales either have a rental category or rentals not be allowed, it can be very hard to find what your looking for because of rentals. (which is why I think they moved islands off on their own)

There was a 512m plot in the same sim as me that was for sale up till yesterday, now it's something like 10 or 12 32m plots and a dozen 16m plots. All for sale at 'market' rates, like < L$20/m. Or at least it was last night. Maybe today it's an ad-farm....

Not sure who does that or why... I did notice in the official SL guide book, they suggest buying 16m plots so you can rez three prims and store or back-up your inventory into them. I don't know how good an idea that is, but maybe that's where the 16m plots originally came from?

I think this could be the biggest part of the problem. People who buy these lots just to get rid of them are only fueling the people who make them . DONT BUY THESE LOTS. There are trees you can use to hide signs on these lots, or there is the option to hide the primsign with a prim of your own, with nothing but a picture of the horizon on it as a texture. These are by no means flawless but buying these lots only funds the #$#$holes that make them. If you need a large tree or help hideing them IM me in game I will send you a huge pine tree for free that you can cover the little lots with. For those of you who rent them for signs. Take my word for it they dont generate sales at all. Only other option I see that might help is if everyone reported these lots as land abuse. The Lindens changed the event search a long time ago because they claimed that it was being abused by people spamming events. This is no different, maybe if we all start reporting these as land abuse the lindens will be spammed as bad as we are and fix this. So i ask everyone to go to these lots today and send an abuse report to LL let them know that our spam is now their spam!!

Sometimes people divide their land to sell some of it and end up with 16 or 32 left over in order to fit exactly into their tier.

That is the case with me once, anyway. So I have these little 16's sitting around (with nothing on them).

The previous suggestion was made:

"There are trees you can use to hide signs on these lots, or there is the option to hide the primsign with a prim of your own, "

I actually had an ad land owner file an AR on me for doing just that because he raised his ad land in an attempt to clear my trees, creating an overhang problem for him. Of course, nothing came of it. I offered to remove my trees if he lowered his land, and he called it blackmail, lol.

I have bought a number of these parcels to turn them back into a 512. I've limited access on my "former ad land" to myself only. This means that some of the ad land owners wanting 10,000,000 lindens for 16 sq m may have some inconvenience getting to their 3 prim kingdom, but it's of their own doing, if you ask me. I would pay a reasonable price for it!

I bought one piece of ad land solely to remove an ad I found offensive. It was worth $1000L to remove it!

I think it would be great if we all started using prim signs to block ads as a protest of some sort. I'm just worried we might get a slap on the wrist for it. However, I'm not that worried (as evidenced by my land restrictions) and I'm taking my chances.
