I have been thinking a lot about our world, the communities and indivuals in Second Life and our virtual economy. I am trying to understand it better in hopes for new ways to create jobs, improve the quality of life for all residents in Second Life. I am not sure where else to post this so I am posting this here. Moderators forgive me if thsi isn't the place. Is there anyone here who understands the Second Life Economy as it stands right now who would like to brainstorm and discuss things with me inworld? I would love conversation here but one of things I notice when its discussed on the forum is usually the sollution is that someone will come up with is that everyone or more people should buy more Lindens and not be "bums". This isn't always sollution. Not everyone is able to buy hundreds of US dollars worth of Lindens nor has the ablity to be landowners, open businesses, etc. As members of Second Life we create many of things we see every day. What type of world we live in, what happens and our experiences are our own sole responsiblities too from what I am gathering but what our shared responsiblities within Second Life and each other? What type of community do you want your SecondLife to be? How do we create this within the possible options we have? How does new citzen control and create their own second life reality? These have been the things I have been thinking about since I have learning about vr 3d communities and one thing regardless of what world or game I am in there is common thread, common limitation. I am looking for people who actually think about these things too for brainstorming sessions for sorting out what is a can't do, what is can do situation to improve things. As a hobby I have spent 10 years exploring different virtual communities and worlds and I often thought about this but found very few people within those communities to discuss this with.

For historical record, you might want to take a read through the now closed and achived "Land and the Economy Forum." /130/1.htmlIf you weed out the trolling and grandstanding, there was some really great stuff in that forum.

Hi FD you can try to IM me for my perspective if you can ever find me online. In short, SL nowadays seems to be about a lot people trying to make as many Lindens as they can without paying one bit of attention to the Second Life physical environment or to the social aspects of this world.
Go exploring and you will see the effects this type of attitude has caused as much of Second Life looks like a second rate mall from a burning barrel movie.

Yeah I have some interesting observations and experiences with this. In another world I actually spent a whole lot supporting another beta like gaming community when I didn't have a whole lot myself. I learn some painful lessons. I don't want to get into details and start any problems or arguements thats why I posted what I did.
