Who is the bigger group?

From cheese something...

Many of us furs pay to use second life, and we are the largest group. We constantly have to beg for help because you seem to be more interested in humans. We feel neglected, and now, our utopia, is in danger.

Really?

I say humans are the biggest group playing SL, because unless you're actually a talking dog in real life, who here is not human?

The underlying question would be roughly...

"Out of those residents who have premium and verified accounts, thus paying to use SL, do furries constitue the largest group of paying members? As opposed to say, Kiddies/Minis, Fantasy Roleplayers, Goreans, individuals of the BDSM lifestyle, etc."

Personally, I would believe no...they are not the largest group. I'd say land owning non roleplayers are the largest group...but then again that is just pure speculation on my part.

Is the question not clear? He wants to know if humans or furries are the greater group who are playing Second Life... I tend to go along with his conclusion that humans are...

For the record - I use a furry av.

It depends how you define furry. persoanlly I don't call everyone who has worn a fur av once a furry, nor robots, spirits, etc.

How about.. 'do more spend 75% (or more) of their time in SL (game or platform, your call) as a human or animal based?'

Maybe they mean they're the biggest group out of the furry groups.

I would guess that the biggest group, overall, in SL, are camping zombies sucking the life out of the grid at the expense of the true, paying members who are here because they enjoy it.

I'm quite sure that SL doesn't have an "anti fur policy" (fursecution?) because I've seen several Lindens in furry avatars on my travels (Hermia springs to mind immediately).

Hermia looks great too, regardless of which avatar she has on. I've seen her furry and have a picture of the more rarely seen red toga. :)

She posts over on Second Citizen and you can see a headshot of her furry av there as her avatar - speaking of which I need to get her bear.

She has a cute bear - and I dunno how rare the red toga is, but I first met her as a tiny. :-)

As to the real question: I suspect that furry may well be one of the largest or the largest affinity group owning the largest amount of land dedicated to furry-dom. Humans, while a larger overall form of avatar (and yes, a kid like me is still a human), their are any number of affinity groups and interests within to call them a single "group" in the same fashion.

Did that make any sense? Darn SL withdrawls.

Here's a question - can someone explain furries to me? I love the detailed AVs but am wondering if someone can point me to the genesis of this movement? No judgement :) I am simply curious...SL is my first MMOG or any "game" for that matter.

Furries have many definations but all agree that furries have animal traits. It's the etent of these traits and/or time spent in these traits that many argue.

To some Nekos are furries, to others they are "to human". Chewbacca in some cases is a furry. To others he just needs a good shaving. Dragons in theory are furries but many just kinda look at them as mytholigcal beasts.

Furries have been around for a long time. I would do a wikipedia search to get more info. There is also one tag of a well known furry in these forums that has huge ammounts of info links (name is avoiding me).

LOL Blingtards! As someone planning a wedding in SL, there is another category of Blings...the Blingzillas (Obsessed Brides with lots of Bling). That is how I chose my planner - the one with the least amount of bling :D

Ok, for making fun of furries, I am putting you all under arrest! As punishment you will be tied to a chair and forced to listen to Barney the dinosaur cds 24 hours a day for 2 weeks! That should teach you not to make fun of furries!

:D

This could turn into a really interesting topic but we it needs to be in a general forum. The SL forums no longer have a general forum, so it shall be locked instead of moved.

That is just evil.
