I purchased a really nice lagoon-style hot tub a while back. It has some nice poseballs in and around the water. The only problem is, when you stand up from some of them, your AV is launched up into the air at an angle. I could live with it, except my land is on a fairly steep hill, and if the AV lands on the slope, it ends up running to the bottom of the slope. It was funny the first few times, but it's getting old.
I've resorted to putting up some strategically placed walls to bounce the AV back to the hot tub.
Knowing that there may be little I can do to stop the launching (the pool isset modify, but I don't think the scripts in the poseballs are) I'd at least like to understand what's happening. It can't be momentum, can it? It happens no matter how close to the poseball you were when you sat on it, and no matter how long you were sitting there.
Thanks for any insight into the puzzle!

That's even more annoying that my case. I have a piece of furniture with poseballs. When I stand up, it lauches me through the ceiling and I land standing on the roof of the house.

Something i've noticed....

Hi Midori There is something i've noticed when flying off poseballs. It usually occurs when my camera has been panned in some way, and it seems the further from the default angle it is the worse the bounce when I get up. I've taken to resetting my view before standing just to avoid these situations. Not sure that will solve your problem, but it has helped me ~B

Try rotating the poseball. It won't look like it's turning, but it may alter the direction in which the av gets pushed when they stand up.

Part of the "luanching" is to keep avatars from being "stuck" in the poseballs after standing. Most scriptors that know that, take care to keep the push as low as possible.
Another factor is the ball prims. If they are regular prims, they push harder. If the object is Modifyable, set the object to Phantom. This eliminates nearly all the push effect.

When I stand up from my deck chair, I get launched off the balcony. It still hasn't gotten old for me

That is very interesting. The poseballs came all linked to the structure, which means they are non-phantom, like the rest of it. I'll try unlinking the poseballs and see if that helps. I'll just have to be VERY careful if i ever have to move the hot tub. Thank you.
