I have read here from time to time questions relating to Streaming Music on your land. Quite often a request is made and a URL or two is given. I have gathered together the addresses I have plus a few extras from Jeanette Hailey. I hope you will find them useful. If you don't know how to add music to your land check the Knowledge Base or search this Forum. I don't know how good or otherwise the stations are but they all work as of 17th Feb 2007. Thanks! I'm still learning the basics of audio, never been an interest of mine until I bought land in SL. Now I'm really keen to add the right music ambience and you're saved me a lot of work. Very much appreciated!

How about a list of over 160 streams. Edit it to anyway you want. Give a copy to your friends.
This list comes in a object.
Just click the object and one of the streams is loaded into your land media setting.
With a couple clicks save that station as a favorite.
The object shows you the currently playing stream name.
You can allow your friends to control the object as well.
There are other things the object can do as well.
The stream list is updated about once a month to remove any bad streams and new ones are added. Than this list is sent to you for free.
What is this object?
It's a SL radio.
I mention this here not to promote my products but to make people aware of what is already out there.

Interesting thread, as I have found that many of the stations in my original radio were no longer available. Thanks for mentioning these stations, I've been wondering if my posting of this info would be regarded as shameless promotion. You see, I am the Program Director for Crystal Clear Communications, the operator of these stations. I am also the mid-day DJ, and hope you will enjoy the show. We have a line of radios that will allow you to easily tune into any of these stations, 7 different radios that should fit any decor. You can get them for FREE at our corporate HQ in Emit Time. If you have any comments on the programming of these stations, drop me an IM in-world, I'm always happy to hear feedback. Max

Also, I am one of the makers of those free radios and have included the Crystal Clear Communication streams in my other radios as well...

Sorry it took me so long to get around to checking your list Sterling. RL/SL Girlfriend is a crazy Salsa Dancer and -64 - SalsaStream.com - Salsa http://205.188.215.231:8010Certainly works. Thanks from both of us although I think I might have sore feet by the end of tomorrow I haven't told her yet maybe I should keep quiet? Nah I am far too nice to deprive her. Andrew

Two music stream questions...
02-21-2007 08:09
Hi all 1. If you click on the station link in Shoutcast it takes you to the station webpage and usually a listen button... how do you get the link that you need to put in the media box on your land? 2. Where can I get streams suitable for playing in a club - that's music minus inane radio dj chatter? Looking for: soul, blues, jazz... Thanks Cat x

Thanks for adding that all. Any commentaries about different channels. I listened briefly I found the station I had annoying when I was new then quit listening to the music stations because they gave me head ache.

I have been checking the addresses and adding them to my website at http://www.abmu.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/I won't apologise for the sloppy stuff on the homepage, the site was really meant only for myself and my girlfriend but there is a link at the top of the page for media, I had added the two from 69, they work in Winamp. Radio Cher - 24/7
02-21-2007 10:52
And of course I have to plug Radio Cher -- Commercial Free- 24/7! Rocks enough to have at your club yet still mild enough to play at your store and not drive away customers, lol. I happen to have the best stream provider in Second Life (SpinStream), so no down time ever! Check my profile out for a list of venues that currently stream Radio Cher - Live Artists on Tuedays, Thursdays and Saturdays http://72.35.73.167:8012/You don't need a file to tune in on your land, simply paste the entire URL into the Media Tab of "About Land". IM me if you need help or have a request, anytime! Cher Harrington Audio Consultant

Station Changers on my parcel?
02-21-2007 11:39
Since we're talking about streaming radio. I do have a few questions. I've tried a few of the freebie station changers on my property. But I ran into several problems. First, I purchased the land from the Anshe Dreamland Empire. The land is deeded to our group.
1.) On one freebie, I could edit the stations list in the object to add my preferences and remove any preloaded stations that weren't to my taste. But I couldn't use it until I deeded it to the object to the group. In other words it couldn't seem to make the URL change in the About Land/Media tab while the object was owned by me.
2.) But then, alas ... once it was deeded to the group it wouldn't let me edit the stations list. But I'm listed as the 'owner' in the group of the deeded parcel?
3.) I tried the Crystal Clear Communications Freebie from SLboutique.com, it had some neat stations, and I seemed to be able to listen to different stations. But one, I think it was just a HUD that really didn't change the parcel setting and instead just played the station on your viewer, regardless of where you TP'd to. (I'm not sure of that, but that was what a tech from Crystal Clear implied to me) And it wouldn't let me edit the script to remove or add listings.
So any insight on the best system to use that works... and any tips on how to make something like this work on group owned land would be appreciated. I would even consider buying one, but if it's using the same inherent scripts that are in the freebies, then I'm not sure that wouldn't have the same issues.
Thank you,

Hi 1Time, I am the maker of that HUD radio. The radio is free and only contains the 10 Crystal Clear stations and does not allow editing. The Radio has a option to open your desktop player (for example: Quicktime, Itunes) to play the stream from your desktop so that you may hear the music wherever you go and even when not in SL. I do sell versions of the HUD radio that will allow you to edit the stations list (166 streams included in all radios at time of this writing) and have a lot more features included than the free version. About Land Land will only let the land owner's items change the land media settings. That is why you have to transfer ownership of a radio to the land owner. The land owner can be a single owner or a group. If the land is owned by a single owner you can give them your radio to set out. If the land is owned by a group, you will need a officer to deed the radio to the group. Editing a radio's station stream notecards is possible if the notecard is set to "Share with group" before the radio is deeded. Than if you have your group tag on you can edit the notecard. The HUD radio is worn and because of that you cannot deed it or transfer ownership. In cases where you would want to use the HUD radio on land owned by another I have a object called a Land Adaptor that can be transfered to the land owner in place of the radio. This land adaptor can also be use with any of my radios. The Land Adaptor is not included with the free HUD radio but can be purchased at one of my stores for a small cost. If you have any questions about the HUD radio or my products feel free to send me a IM.

my radio stopped working ....
02-27-2007 09:08
Andrew, thank you for posting all those stations - and it's nice to see a man who's not scared of being in love! Does anybody know why my radio should have stopped working? I'm using the script by Kenn Nilsson and Jesrad Seraph. I took a couple of months out of SL, then when I came back found it doesn't work anymore. I have checked that my software's up to date, have asked other people if they can hear it and have tried it on other land. Nothing. I'm guessing I've missed some small thing in the changelogs,. but blowed if i can find it. Any advice, please??? Cherry.

Have you tried another one? One example is the Classical Station, not always working. I had a problem recently cleared on its own. After subdividing/joining some of my land the stream on my own land sometimes stopped. By flying / walking to the plot next door and back again I was able to hear again the music on my land. As I say that seems ro have cleared. I have read that sometimes it needs a restart of your Sim to fix the problem. As SL is closing about now maybe that will help? If none of that works IM me in game (if it actually goes back online today ) and assuming you don't live on Fourmile we could try different Sims or maybe another Stream. As a fellow Brit it would be nice to say hello too! I own 8 Plots 1/8 of my Sim so plenty to experiment with. iAndrew Bailey

What happened to Crystal Clear Communications?
03-06-2007 05:54
I haven't been able to get any of the 10 Crystal Clear Communications streams to work. Their web site says that their official launch was yesterday, March 5th, but their stations are still all dead. Does anyone know what happened? Did they close up shop?
