Hello, I am confused about how the parcel prim counts work. It says in the Private Island Tools faq that parcels can go over their limit by changing the region's "object bonus" setting. I have seen some parcels on the mainland that seem to be over their parcel limit as well, so.. 1] Is this "object bonus" setting something that a region owner on the mainland can use as well? 2] If not, what known bugs/"features"/workarounds are there in the parcel prim limit? Like temp-on-res objects not counting towards the prim limit, attachments not counting, etc. I'm trying to test the llGetParcelMaxPrims function and see if it matches up with these "exceptions".

No non-Linden player can become an Estate Manager on the mainland. A very few mainland areas have an Object Bonus set by Linden Lab, though. One trick is that although prims are allocated by parcel size, they are only counted in terms of a person's total usage on the sim. In other words, if you have 2 100-prim parcels in the same sim which are seperate from each other, you can use all 200 prims on just one of those parcels and leave the other one empty if you want. So it's possible that the owners of those parcels own other areas elsewhere on the sim which they aren't using, or are using only sparsely, in order to gain more prims on their main parcel. You can see this a lot on private islands - if you fly around the "water" areas on many of the land reseller islands you'll see the parcel name change to "Bonus Prims for (name)" several times - those "empty" water spots have been given to one of the other landowners on the sim to increase the total prim allocation, even though they're actually using all those prims on their land-based parcel, thus making it appear to have more prims than would be normal for its size. Hope this helps!

Oh man, it gets so complicated. That is probably what I was seeing. Anyone know any more "exceptions"/tricks that I should keep in mind?

From: Gargling Ginsberg How can I check this? (or alternatively, how did you find out about this?) The only times I personally ever noticed it was on mainland sims owned entirely by LL. Luna is the only one I can remember off-hand (pick the World / Region menu item when you're on the sim ). From: someone Anyone know any more "exceptions"/tricks that I should keep in mind? Temporary prims act a little odd as well. You'll see them counted for individuals (at the bottom of the prim count screen), but they don't (shouldn't ) count against the total limit. If you add up everyone's individual prim count and get a number higher than what it says for total amount of prims used, you can be sure the difference will be temporary prims .

From: Kitty Barnett The only times I personally ever noticed it was on mainland sims owned entirely by LL. Luna is the only one I can remember off-hand (pick the World / Region menu item when you're on the sim ). The four "city" sims near Luna have a bonus too (Grignano, Miramare, and two others whose names I can't remember). They have the bonus because a lot of their area - more than usual - is covered with a network of Linden roads (just like in a city, in other words). Thus they compensated landowners by doubing the prims on their parcels. The actual sim prim limit is the same, though, since the extra prims are just the "spares" that are not used in the areas taken up by road. "Temporary rerezzers", which create permanent structures by repeatedly rezzing temp-on-rez prims that don't count against the parcel, are antisocial and unecological and not generally considered an acceptable way of exceeding prim limits.
