Some time ago I made a very nice in-game screenshot. In SL the picture looks wonderful. when I save it to my local computer, the tga-file is still very nice.
But when I make from the tga-file a jpg-file and use it as wallpaper, it pictures loses a lot of its quality and gets a bit blury.
Is there something I can do about this?

If you save as a jpg it tends to lose detail for the sake of compression. You get a smaller sized file at the cost of the image looking worse. Your original screenshot may also be smaller than the desktop and when it is stretched to fit the desktop it looks worse. If you have photoshop the jpeg save options allow you to choose the picture quality or just save it as a bmp or png. For the image size I'd recommend running SL fullscreen at the highest resolution you can and take the picture. You can always revert back.
