Hello,

I have an issue with my Secondlife client;
When I am on "Mouselook", the view slowly rotates to the right constantly.

This happens whether I am logged in or if my RL friend logs in on my PC.
I have tried repairing the installation.
I seem to remember it started a week or so after I originally installed and has been annoying me ever since!
Any ideas on this one? or do you know the best route to get help?

Cheers,
Lizard.

When you enter mouse lock you are essentially seeing the Second Life world through the eyes of your avatar, therefore it seems to me you may have some type of animation or motion issue with it (avatar)

Just my own musings, you could test this by making sure no animations are loaded into your avatar.

Known issue - you've got your UI sized to something other than 1.0

(edit --> preferences --> graphics tab --> UI Size slider)

While i'm here..

if you teleport whilst sat down somewhere, when you get to the new place, your av is still in the sitting position, but there is no stand up button. the only way i've been able to repair it is by re-starting my client.

Is there another way?

Cheers

Depends on why it's happening, but a stop-all-animations script usually does the trick. IM me for one.

Question; Do you use a Laser Mouse, ot a Ball Mouse?

I ask Only because some Light Mice (Mouses?) have a problem with drift. You wouldn't notice it so much in Cursor mode, but in Mouselook, it may become pronounced.

I am having this issue as well but i havent touched my UI size ( i am sure its set to 1 but i will double check

i do use a microsoft optical mouse on a black felt mat but the drift doesnt occur on it ( main reason im using a fabric pad to mouse on :) ) so in windows and 3rd person view it doesnt occur but in mouse look mine slowly makes its way left

coem to think of it i havent stopped to try my cordless mouse or just straight on my desk ( wood style laminate ) but is there any other know fixes? mouse sensativity maybe? ( my windows mouse settings are pretty high to be honest.

any thoughts?

Most optical mice use LEDs, and are not incredibly precise to begin with. Increasing sensitivity in the driver is bound to amplify the drift associated with this imprecision.. best bet is to experiment with different surfaces until you find a solution that minimizes the annoyance - wood grain desk surfaces generally result in multiple reflections which trick the driver into thinking you're moving the mouse when you're not.. mousepads with "busy" designs on them can have the same effect.. a plain old flat (non glossy) surface would give the best result - or a mouse/gaming pad specifically designed for an optical mouse.

Or an actual laser mouse. 20-30x more precise than LED, would eliminate pointer drift on just about _any_ tracking surface :)

Hi Y'all
Been gone a while, but still occasionally get in-world...
Just to get my ticket punched: I've had the slow-rotation in mouselook for a long time (maybe going back almost a year).
I'm currently using the standard Compaq wired mouse that came with my system.
I also have a Wacom pad with that "magic" (radio?) mouse, and I get the same problem.
My UI slider is at 1 always.

Hey--- I'm almost 2 years old!!! ;)

Hi Rmike,

There are actually 2 very similar symptoms with separate fixes, one being the UI size. With the other, usually hitting Alt + Enter and will fix it for you since it's caused by screen resolution. Then to get back to the screen you had hit Alt + Enter again.

Not sure if this will work for you but it's worth a shot :-)
