Anyone know if SL forum mods will bring back HTML so we can link out to other sites that are posted?

It's not the mods that turned it off, it was the Lindens. Check Torley's announcement at the top of the forum, above the sticky posts. It has a link to a JIRA entry that you can vote on to say you'd like it turned back on.

Also look in the sticky posts for Strife's Greasemonkey script. If you use Firefox, using the Greasemonkey extension and Strife's script will make the URLS linkable again (in your browser).

we never had html code, its generally bad practice what your talking about it called BBcode (bulletin board) its used on almost every serious forum software package to allow users to include links code quotes images files and formatting without having to actually know html

please for the love of god vote on the jira issue it can be found here

I just use the Linkification plugin, at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/190 . I think it's a much simpler approach than using Greasemonkey for something like this.

I tried it, but it still leaves the tags in place, which can make posts difficult to read. Strife's Grease Monkey script leaves the posts 'clean.'

BBcode is obsolescent. A simple editor, like TinyMCE, is a better idea. Except, I suppose, for people using lynx.

Wouldn't it be nice if LL did something like.....oh....hmm.... maybe place an employee in charge of the forums to upkeep, manage, repair and update them?

Oh, wait.... that would mean "Management" from LL. My bad.

I saw a news story that people on Easter Island find BB Code offensive and have outlawed it, so Linden decided to do away with it, just to protect the children. And the statues.

*Just fix the goddamn thing! There shouldn't be any need to have to use plugins, for chrissakes!*
