Perplexing Rez/Log in issues

My friend and I have spent the last week trying to figure this problem out. My friend (Rd) has 2 computers in her home. One runs XP, the other is brand new and runs Vista. For the past few months that we have been on SL both computers have run just fine. But over the last week or so, the vista computer has been doing funny things. I can log into my account on both computers, but Rd can't access her account on the Vista computer. When she logs in everything seems normal, but then it says "Precaching" for a very long time, and then it gets half way through "Downloading Clothing" and stops. It then shows the world, half rezzed, and says "Your clothing has not finished downloading. You can use the world normally, and others can see you normally" which is not the case at all. None of her clothing will load, she cannot move, teleport, or even use the chat. Her L$ balance just says "loading" and her friends list says "waiting...)".

I know that a lot of people are just thinking "stupid vista, it never works" but the confusing part is that I can log into my account on the SAME vista computer, and I don't have any of these problems. We've tried contacting linden in-world helpers and they're just as lost as we are. Is there anyone here who has encountered this problem, or has even heard of something remotely similar? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had this happen this past weekend. I would log in and get the same message and appear to be a newbie without inventory or lindens forever. My alt would log in an be fine. Then all of a sudden... sim restarted for my main av...

Have her av log in at a different location.

That worked the first time it happened, but it doens't seem to be working now. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

if similar case happens again, just logout, wait for a while, then relog. do not do anything when u are in that "half rezzed, ruthed, L$ balance loading" state, there have been cases of missing inventory if u do.

Me and my spouse have had that problem lately as well. I wonder if it is related to the cache??? next time ill try clearing it and relogging in to see if that makes a differance.

We've tried logging out and back in multiple times, clearing the cache, even uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works. I don't know what to do anymore.

dunno if this helps, i once had a similar problem connecting to my home or last location. before that i had a crash i believe in someplace that was not the last location SL was giving me, so i disconnected and tried logging in that last place where i had the crash and everything seemed to work again. i know it's a long shot, that time i just typed in the name of the sim in the login screen.
