And this is directed to anybody at the labs who can explain what's going on here..

*cough ahem*
WHAT'S THE DEAL, YO?
*more cough*

I'm... stunned, STUNNED, by the lack of forethought that went into the recent blog entry about "keeping second life safe"

Basically, it seems like it boils down to things that would be segregated into adult-only areas (rape PLAY, for instance, nevermind how you can rape someone against their will in a world with an instant escape...) are now against the CS and bannable offenses.

I'm confused, and a heck of a lot of other people are confused.

Nonwithstanding the (iffy) logistics of banning something that two consenting adults are doing with each other, there is now ambiguity between LL's previously stated intent (Age verification + adult areas), the new blog post (more things banned that assumingly would be covered by adult areas) and the existing CS (which is fine as is!!)

One needs to simply submit an AR on someone for.. i dunno, let's say being underage, and their account is disabled just like that (true story, it HAS happened) and it then becomes that person's burden to prove their age. Permanent damage? No, but it becomes an effective way to remove someone from the world for a couple of weeks.

LL: You think the report load is bad now? You've just opened the door to witchhunts and report griefing on a level that you've never before seen. Nevermind the slippery slope you're now on with regard to censoring content.....

I'm worried, i'm confused, and some kind of clarification (especially with regards to "broadly offensive" when it only takes a single AR to get someone popped..) would be ace.

Much, MUCH thanks in advance.

*must*not*flame*for*starting*a*new*thread*without*paying*any*attention*to*the*numerous*other*redudant*threads *already*started*on*this*topic!*

nngnggfrrr!! I won't do it! My lips are sealed! My fingers are tied.

Serious answer, since you asked RESIDENTS for one...

Isn't it clear this is all just posturing? Few enough get support requests and AR's through to someone that actually does anything... so... basically, this means that enforcement of this new and contradictory policy will be spotty at best.

But taking a "Positive Stance" on this "Troubling issue" was what was necessary, for whatever behind the curtain reasons.

I wish I had the confidence that punishment would be reserved for only those that insist on aggressively pushing the envelope of tolerable behavior. Likely it will be reserved for those that have poor judgement and vindictive neighbors.

How can you be stunned? Nothing LL does stuns me anymore. I put more thought into this reply than they do to most of their communications.
