How do people find out about propositions?

I had an idea and I wanted to submit it to SL and found the proposition system. I vaguely heard about it in the past and completely forgot about it. I read that the system is being replaced by a new improved system. Just wondered if it has been updated yet and how do the propositions get attention?

The interface is a little intimidating at first, so I suggest you spend some time playing around with it to figure out how it works.

Once you log in, you can vote on the proposals, add comments, and start your own (but search first to see if someone else has already suggested it).
