Why do I spin around uncontrollably?

Help! I have found that on several occasions in the last week or so, my avi starts spinning around. I can’t say WHEN it happens (not paying enough attention) but just that is DOES happen…

Sometimes, if I TP somewhere, it stops. Sometimes if I log out and back in, it stops. Nothing else seems to work.

What is going on? Any suggestions?

It sounds like a "sit' type of teleporter has you spinning a bit - is that it? If that's the problem it has no remedy that I know - perhaps someone else will have something to add.

If you wear a Reverie Animation Overrider, the "soft landing" is a spinning animation. Possibly it is your AO malfunctioning until your avi is fully downloaded to the server you are logging into or teleporting to. Mine does this, and I just remove the AO and put it back on after the sim is downloaded a bit more for me.

If it's the same cause as for me, it's because you touched something on the UI (i.e. friend button, camera controls, edit dialog). This was broken when they first released the new UI controls a version or two ago, fixed, and is now broken again. It doesn't happen every time. It seems to get into a state where it will be that way for a while and then not. Logging doesn't always fix the problem, as you mentioned, and I know of no reliable method of doing so. :(

Thanks to everyone for their comments!

I am running a duo core laptop with Nvidia 7600 over a fast wireless connection to a cable modem.
