Edit menu can't find textures

Please anyone can help me with this? Ever since last update Texture window in Edit menu is unable to find a single texture in my inventory, it keeps telling that there ins't any matching item. The only way to texturize prims that I've found so far is to drag textures straight from inventory to the texture window or onto the prim. But this doesn't work for certain HUD-based building I've began to use: in this case, dragging on shows the selected texture for half a second before it vanishes again.
Several friends of mine have this problem too but, oddly enough, I haven't found it mentioned in the forums. Can anyone please give me some light on it, as Linden help seems to be absolutely unhelpful?

I had a similar problem with the previous update, although the current one is ok. The workaround was to open the inventory , find a texture, and open it. Once I had done that once, the texture picker worked as normal. Had to be done after every relog. A bit of a pain, but much better than the drag and drop method of texturing.

Hope it works for you.

Thanks Wulfric. I'll try that the sooner I log in again.

It doesn't find anything unless you type in part of the name. One way to get around this if you don't know the name of what you are looking for is to type in any random letter, then backspace. That brings up all the textures, or at least it did the last time I tried it.

Try this when searching a texture... type the texture's name in the window, then add an extra letter, count to 2, delete the extra letter with the BACKSPACE key. I found there's a bug on this and the search engine is borked...again.

This is a popular issue on JIRA:
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-740

Resolution: [2007-05-24] This was earlier fixed internally, we hope to include this in a public release ASAP.

(so hopefully in the next client update?)

Workaround (until fix is released): Place a texture at root (topmost) level alongside your system folders, or within the Animations folder.

Hello friends Ava, Calveen, Argos and Wulfric. I thought that I should say thanks to all for your help. I chose Ava's suggestion and used the "official" workaround by creating a "A" named folder and place a texture in, also I tried by placing a texture in Animations folder. Both solutions work perfectly on new objects as well as on earlier created ones. Now let's only hope that tomorrow's new version has this fixed... and no new issues come up!
