Monthly Limit? WTF!?

I've been a member for almost a month now and today I tried to purchase some more stuff so I click on add more money and it tells me I've reached my monthly limit of $150US. Is there a way to change this? Like turn it off or what? I would like to be able to pull $ outta my bank account whenever I want.

I think there's stricter limits for a short period, maybe 45 days? After that you'll be cool. I imagine it's some kind of step to address potential fraud or something.

Yes, the limit... I hit it too. I waited to upgrade until i knew exactly what i was going to do, bought much of what i needed including 2 lots, then hit that stupid limit. Now I have a store with less than half an inventory, cant upload any textures, cant pay anyone to do it for me, and cant pay my models. I have a real problem with subscribed verified over-18 productive residents being held to such a childish limitation. This isn't junior with mommy's credit card we're talking about here...

The reason for the 45-day limit is to prevent the following from happening:

a) someone steals a credit card and buys a huge amount of L$ with it.
b) they use the L$ to buy products in SL.
c) the credit card's owner notices the fradulent transaction and charges back their US$.
d) LL can't trace the L$, and can't claw them back from the innocent merchants, so LL has to take the US$ loss.

You should ask around....perhaps start with some land barrons - they often know people that do currency exchange for you.

Granted, it is a big leap of faith, since you perform the exchange outside of SL -- esentially paying someone by PayPal and have that person give you L$ in exchange. If you do your homework, you should be able to find people to trust.

I can vouch for one such person. I've done business with them in the past. You won't get as favorable an exchange rate, but you can have more L on hand. IM me ingame and I'll give you their info.

Yes of course I would charge a little more per 1000 linden than what the going rate is, would not make sense to offer it otherwise.

This happened to me too when I was trying to buy a large plot of land...I just bought Lindens from 3rd party sites. anshechung.com , slexchange.com
These worked but they are more expensive than buying in game....

Wow, being the n00b that I am, I never thought there would be something like this.

Anyway, I guess that's a solution, buying from "Currency Exchanges"... I really still like that idea of buying from a friend. If you know somebody in 1st Life that you can trust, OR, maybe you could buy L$ through someone you have known on SL for a long time...

When you think about the convenience of buying L$ from SLX, as opposed to time spent (time is money) finding somebody in 1st Life, then waiting for them to buy the L$....SLX might be better.

I can offer 2 suggestions:

1.) As someone mentioned re: landbarons, anshechung.com will allow you to exchange US dollars for Lindens, irrespective of your status.

2.) When you're in My Account, click on the Raise Credit Limit link. They don't explain it very well, but this allows you to charge up to US$100 on your credit card. The amount you choose is put in your US Dollar account, which you can then exchange for Lindens. (I used this only after my 45 day wait period, so I'm not positive it will work for you right now.)
