I've seen some talk about these things and I got a bit interested, but how do they work?
I picked up a freebie one and it makes a green word float over my head (detached from my name), are there other versions of the Titler out there that do the same basic thing (title over head, obviously) in different ways?

All you know? Or all you're TELLING? Hrmm? There isn't really much else you can do with these things - llSetText is a pretty un sophisticated function.. You can control the values of the red/green/blue channels to get just about any color you want. Other 'n that, ... From: Brenda Connolly Some allow you to change the text color. That's all I know.

you can use any free hover script, put it into a 'alpha' prim that your 'wear' and make words of any color or flashing colors etc above your head or hand or foot or whatever
ring text = "You Text Here!";
vector red = <1.0,0.0,0.0>; vector green = <0.0,1.0,0.0>; vector blue = <0.0,0.0,1.0>;
vector yellow = <1.0,1.0,0.0>; vector cyan = <0.0,1.0,1.0>; vector purple = <1.0,0.0,1.0>;
default { state_entry() { llSetText(text, yellow, 1); } on_rez(integer startparam) { llResetScript(); } }

The one I have works like this. You type: title (color) (text) and that's all there is to it

Just make your own group and you can change the group title above your head to anything you want. As the group owner you can change it whenever you feel that you need a different title.

A titler is just a prim attachment with hover text. They are kind of handy for things like having "I'm busy building and can't see you" over your head, which will be visible even if other Players have the option to see the other Player's names and group titles turned off in their own preferences.

When I first saw one of these in my inventory, I thought it was something dirty, to do with breasts...

From: Berith Lytton I picked up a freebie one and it makes a green word float over my head (detached from my name), are there other versions of the Titler out there that do the same basic thing (title over head, obviously) in different ways? Yes, they all have different commands, depending on who wrote them. Smartly built ones will listen on a different channel from open chat so your commands don't spam area chat. I recently made a free titler for visitors of my public island that indicates where they sit on the D/s spectrum, whether they're "looking," and what their gender preferences are. The titler listens on channel 8 and has its own set of commands (described in a notecard that you get the first time you put it on). One command, message, lets you set a custom message in the last line. So you could type: /8 message Please don't IM me! And the last line in your titler would read: "Please don't IM me!" Like I said though, they're all different. You might be able to get a list of commands by typing 'help' after putting the titler on- or sometimes you can rez the item, then look in its contents and either inspect the script or look for a notecard that lists them.
