Is there a way to make audio automatically play when someone lands on your land?

Is there a way to make audio automatically play when someone lands on your land? Now there's an interesting question. I sincerely hope that someone knows how this can be achieved as I too would like to have this function. Rock |

Only if they click on the play button at the bottom of the screen if that is your question. It is possible to have sounds such as birds singing which are automatic but I think they use WAV files the size of which would be prohibitive as music. Remember too that music can I am told slow down the client so a choice is nicer than making it happen automatically.
If on the other hand you mean the standard streaming media it is in a TAB when you look at your land properties, just add an address in the relevant space and as long as someone presses play they will hear it. If you are renting you might not be able to change the music, you could always ask your landlord to do it for you or on some land, like the homes I rent out the landlord might grant permission for you to do it youself. You can find addresses to enter in that space by searching the web, I believe shoutcast.com is supposed to be a good place to start. I am keeping my own list of addresses which are on my website http://www.abmu.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ feel free to look. No laughing at the soppy bit on the home page .. it's not my fault I am in love ![]() Andrew |

I think it is possible to have a scripted object that sends out the sound of a stream, and that should be audible by anyone in the vicinity (range depends on volume) of that object.... But be carefull not to hinder your neighbours, if restrict spatialized sound to the parcel isn't set on your land... Because with a high volume they might otherwise hear it on their land too, and I can imagine that's annoying...

Pomfus -
- Click on your land and select "About Land". - Click on the Media tab. - Paste your URL in the space provided. Music will play when guests land on your property ![]() Good luck and happy listening! |

So, in other words, you'd like "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns and Roses to start playing as soon as someone gets near. ![]() ok, maybe not that song, but I get your drift. You'd like to "greet" newcomers with a certain audio clip. It can be done I'm think....ask this question in the scripting forums. |

You can put a URL to a mp3 file in your land media settings. If a person already has their music control on they will here the song start playing from the beginning when enter your land parcel. If they do not have the music control setting on then they have to click the play button to start the song. The mp3 file will play in a loop for them as long as they are in the parcel or untill they click stop on the music control.
You can put a radio stream URL there also. Radio streams do not start at the beginning but play at the current playlist setting. |

I have a guitar that plays an audio clip while I'm playing it and people around me can hear it also.
I don't see why someone couldn't put a script inside of an object (like my guitar) that would start playing as soon as an avatar got within a certain range or stepped on a prim and triggered it ( I currently have a script that changes textures on a seperate prim when another prim is stepped on....same idea....step on the floor of a house or store and the music gets triggered to start playing) granted, they would still need their audio turned on to hear it and I don't know if there is a way to take over someones audio control with a script. ( probably not a good idea) Pomfus: Run this idea by the gifted scripters in the scripting forums....see what they have to say. |

The sound that is controled by your audio control at the bottom of your screen is streaming audio. The is no way for a script to modify the settings for that control to turn it on, off or set the volume. LL does not allow it in their scripting language. You have to manualy turn that control on or off.
The the other type of sound like the sound in your guitar is a uploaded sound clip. The clip can be no more than 10 seconds in length. It has to be uploaded as a wav file. That type of sound is not dependent on your land media and can be heard by anyone within "hearing" distance. This is also the sounds you can hear in gestures, and many scripted objects like vehicles for example.. Some even go as far as uploading 10 second bits of a song and have a script play all the parts back in sequence to play the full song. The music control has no effect on this type of sound. Yes it is possible for a script to turn this type of sound on when a avatar gets close. A simple sensor can be used. |
