Simple CopyBot Defeater IM Spam... advice needed

I have a neighbor who will not remove these spamming "defeater" objects. I've read many of the threads about the topic already but I need some advice on what to do about this! I've already gone the obvious route, the polite "please remove the spamming object" option. They won't remove them all. Meanwhile I'm still getting spammed when on my own land. (Not to mention the build on the land is IMO a huge eyesore, movement script and particle hog, in an otherwise beautiful sim.) Should I file an abuse report to have these spam objects removed? Is there some other course of action I could take?

Go to the Linden Website, and read both the TOS, and CS carfully. If you find a subsection that covers your problem, then AR siting the section.

If you can locate the object, you can mute it and save yourself some grief (pun intended) until the Lindens do something about your Abuse Reports.

You don't have to find it to mute it, do you? Just open your chat history, and next time you see the object's message, you will have the opportunity to mute it right in chat history. Who or what ever is the last thing to speak, you can mute right from there.

Are the Lindens actually doing something about these objects? (i.e. removing them?)

Honestly I think this resident is just trying to grief or something anyway, based on the terrible/annoying build they have up. It's not even a large enough section of land to do anything with it other than advertise or grief, honestly. One neighbor has actually erected a big wall barrier next to it to block the ugly view...lol.

It's also kind of odd that they even need a "defender" since they have nothing of value to protect on the land. And when I asked what they're protecting, they just ignored the question.

It's like someone else is being harassed, but meanwhile it's harassing everyone else in the sim at the same time.

I have to say, I find it Amusing that the defeaters have turned out to be a Bigger problem than the thing they are supposed to Defeat.

True. It was a problem created to solve another problem. And it failed miserably. Did the guy who invented this device even test it before giving it out? Or did he just wana make people think it worked? Some people. :/

It's amazing who still uses these things, considering they don't work. I've seen them employed by people I feel should know better. Even if they did work, I'd rather risk copybot than spam my honest customers (which is most of them).

Is this parcel on a private estate? If so, you might want to consider contacting the Estate Owner. I own some sims myself and I delete/return those things as soon as I become aware of them, and then explain to the land owner/renter why they should not be used. The EO for that land might do the same, or at least ask the owner to remove it, if you contact them.

If you're on the mainland though... really, your only option is to contact the Lindens and hope that they do something.
