How do I hide the interface totally in apple .. i know in Windows its ALT+Shift + F1.. but how do you do it in apple

You're always better off memorizing the actual menu option, rather than the shortcut:
uncheck Client / Rendering / Features / UI (the shortcut will be listed there as well)

I still don't know why Alt-Ctl-F1 doesn't work for me (bad keyboard?), but at least the Client -> Rendering -> Features -> UI path did the trick!
