I've seen suggestions for us newbies that we get all our stuff free, but I don't remember seeing good locations. So, sorry if this is a repeat, or some such, but would someone mind posting good freebie locations that newbies should check out?

Thanks guys. :)

Are any of these less laggy than others? My internet is slooooow, so my SL is slooooooower than normal, and lag is an issue when I go to freebie stores...

It takes knowledge and a lot of hard work to get the freebies that are really good.

The big freebie stores. As mentioned previously.

Join groups. Try joining the lucky chair groups. Lucky chairs announce they are looking for a person whose name begins with a letter and if you sit in the chair you get a prize which is usually store related merchandise. You'll feel like a hamster running on a wheel after a while but you'll end up with a nice little pile of loot.

Try joining the update group for a store. Typically you'll see a sign in the store about this. These update groups sometimes hand out free merch! That's merchandise. When you join the group be sure to check out the list of previous group announcements for hidden merch.

Stores may have either discounted items or a few free items available for the new players. Usually these are in the front of the store... sometimes they are upstairs in the back room. When you go into a store... even it has expensive items.. try looking around for something that looks like a bag or a gift box. It could just be decoration or maybe its freebies.

Stores sometimes have special offers to get an item free if you are less than 30 days old. I can think of gurl6 off the top of my head but there are others. The trick is finding them all before you get over 30 days.

Yard sales. There seems to be quite a lot of them lately. You will find some are bad and some are good. Find them in the search.

Talk to people. Do not walk up to someone and say 'give me freebies now'. You will get ignored.. or worse. If during the course of a pleasant conversation you slip in a mention that you have a limited wardrobe you may find that charity is not unknown to residents of SL. Or they just might want to unload the ugly dress they accidentally bought.

Search. Try typing in the word 'free' under the classifieds tab. Try looking for a store that might have the merchandise you want and teleport over there. You might get what you want or you could just get confused.

Go to slexchange and slboutique and try searching for items that cost zero dollars...

And lastly, you might just want to wander around and search for places that interest you. Sometimes you just find things without even looking for them.

Not too sure what is in the box as I haven't opened it yet! Just found this today, I'm always on the lookout for freebie stuff to pass on to new friends that join. Have a look, with over 100 skins there must be something in there that suits you? :)

If you all know.. The Free Dove only have boxes with one or two items (outfits) of what the actual designer created.

Non of the boxes have 100's of freebies to separate the good or the bad.

All the boxes are by establish designers.

That way the newbie will grab a box with the landmark of the designer's main landmark plus it takes with them a complete outfit. Or shape, or accessories, or good shoes...ect..

Different from many freebie locations out there which are nice too, but you have to take extra time to separate what you want to keep from the box of 100 or more.

On my first day in SL, my friend who got me into it took me to freebie warehouse. I got several things, many of which were useful for my first week or so. There are still a handful of items I like so much that I still wear them and use them frequently.

Also, many stores occasionally give out really high quality free items. I dont look for them, but if I find a store that is giving out something I would like, I take it. Some examples are a beautiful dress from cosmic collections, a nightie from Persneckety [i cannever spell it right] and the BEST free item in SL, the fantastic Frangipani Designs Color change heels. Every woman in SL should have a pair. When I make a new friend who is new in world, I take her to FD and show her the color change heels. Sorry guys, I don't know anything useful for you is that is free. But then again...how many jeans and t shirts do you REALLY need?

By the way, I have been a repeat customer at all the stores listed above.

I'm looking for some decent male freebies that are transferable. I have a nice selection of female freebies to pass out to new players, but haven't found many male transferable stuff. I'm especially interested in skins, clothing and swim trunks.

The beach club where I work attracts a lot of newbs, and its nice to hand them a few folders of clothing. : ) Just my way of paying back those who helped me my first few days.

Any ideas? Or pass them to me ingame!
