Hello,
I'm quite new to Second Life here, so I don't know too much about it.
I have a question about uniquely identifying items that you sell.
I'm designing some items - some that I would like to give away and some I'd like to sell. However, I'm curious if it is possible to attach individual serial numbers to items that are sold for registration and tracking/technical support purposes. For example, let's say I design an "Executive Jet". If I sell 10 copies, can each one have it's own unique serial number?
Are there any Vendors out there that would have this type of functionality built in? Or would be easy to mod to include it?
If anyone can answer this for me, or point me in a direction of material that could answer these questions, I'd be eternally grateful!
Thanks so much for the help!

You could probably use description field of item which is set to no-mod for the buyer to store the serial number. Or put it as name of notecard in the content of similarly no-mod item.
I think Desmond Shang used similar setup for his unique tulips... there's a few of them around Caledon sims, so you can probably take a look there ^^;

you would apply the serial when it first rezzed.

Thanks for the replies.
Joannah, I'll wander over to Caledon and see what I can find!

I'm not that certain that your customers would appreciate you placing a tracking device on their jetplane disguised as a serial number.
The auto-serial # would be helpful.. and it's been asked for before. It'd be nice to have this for artwork, where each copy purchased had it's own serial #.
