Help setting permissions on land for renting!

Hello!

I've begun experimenting with renting, but have been having trouble getting the permissions correct to allow the renter to build.

I have a group, with (in addition to Everyone and Owner) a role called aptly enough 'Renters'

The relevent items I have set are: Parcel Powers: Alywas Fly, Create Object, Landmarks, and Set Home. I have some other options set, but I *thought* for the item creation-side, these were the required ones. Just not listing them all for brevity's sake.

On the land itself, I have Set it to my group. For Options, I have Create Landmarks, Fly, Safe, and Restrict Pushing.

The renter group IS active when trying to create.

What am I missing that is not allowing my renters to create objects? (I don't want others to be able to create though).

And since I'm a rental noobie ... how do 'you' set up your Renter land?

Thanks!

Sedalia,

I think the 'Parcel Powers' only apply if the land is deeded to that group, and not just set to the group. If you decide to deed your parcel to make full use of these powers, make sure that you have the 'Parcel Management' abilities set correctly so that members can not sell or run off with your land.

edit to add: Also, if you do deed your land to group, and assuming you pay tier to LL, make sure that you check the 'owner makes contribution with deed' box. This donates some of your tier to the group to cover the 'group owned' land.

Yes - that "Owner makes contribution with deed box" is one to be VERY careful with.

I've heard of instances where private sim owners sectioned off some group land and checked it. Sure enough, it billed for the sectioned-off group land's tier, on top of the 195 a month! For anyone who has read the private island guide, it is *very* clear on this matter and tells you not to check that box.

Though on the mainland, of course, there has to be someone supporting the group land tier, and odds are that someone should be you.

I am the owner of the land and the group. But when I check to Allow Deed and then got the confirmations to Deed the land to the group - it wouldn't let me because of something about Land Credits?

If you own a private island: Don't check 'owner makes contribution with deed' when you deed the land.

If you're on the mainland: Check the box, else you get the 'land credits' error message.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help - checking the box is what fixed it (as you all pointed out).

That said ... now that this "test plot" is now marked as Group Owned .... how do I get it back? I just sectioned off a piece to test with - but now it doesn't seem that I (as the group holder/owner) can set it back to me (as the individual)?
