I am interested in uploading a few of my personal movies for my home. Is there anyone here that can tell me how this process is done or what kind of progaming is needed?

not an upload to SL, first you need land videos play when your on land,
the land options > media settings you put a link to the video on a web page
perferably a streaming server but ive found short videos work well off of a
webserver, also you set the texture the video will replace any thing with that
texture will show the video, I convert my videos to .3gp its a very small file size
and upload to my webserver. also ive heard blip.tv works with SL but I have not
tested this.
and the video needs to be one that will play in quicktime
