A couple days ago I saw someone that had a T-Mobile Sidekick he'd pull out when he typed. I was wondering where I could find the Sidekick at, and what are they called (the things you pull out when you type)??

Where you can get teh Sidekick, I do not know. If you see the person again, I would send them a polite IM asking if they have a landmark for the store.
As for what it is; They are call Typing AO's, or Animation Overrides. The default SL typing animation is overriden by the new one, and in the case of most Typing AO's, an object is attached (which contains the AO script and animation itself) and uses transparent and texture scripts to 'hide' the object when not in use and 'show' it when you type.
There are computers, floating keyboards, holograms, cellphones, and and all sorts of objects out there. So if you like the Sidekick, the problem will be finding it. If you want something else, the problem will be shopping around to see all the myrid choices.
If you can't find the person again to ask, try Searching for Override, or Animation, once Search works again. Or hopefully, someone who knows this particular AO will answer here. ^.^

There's also a gameboy out there.
They're not remarkably hard to make, really. The hard part is making the "object" and the animation that interacts with it. The override script is rather simple. (I should know, I made the gameboy)

Look for the Telus store, I've not been there for a couple of months, but they're probably still around.
Telus is a Canadian phone company, they have some freebie phones (and t-shirts) in the store and a bunch of for-sale phones.
As far as I remember, they were mainly for when you are AFK, but I could be wrong there.
