SL ws running great for me...until I updated viewer. :-( Now it is crashing and my computer gives me a message about disply driver recovering from a problem. *sigh* I checked the graphic card website, and mine is up to date for the drivers...could it be something else? Is there a way to go back to the pevious version? Or am I screwed?

There is a way to go back to previous viewers...someone will come along soon and list the addy for that. (And this time I'm going to make note of it for myself!)

All is not lost :)

It was http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6733 - buried in image tags, which is a trick to make links clickable here in the land of broken forum code - but the trick doesn't work for everyone.

I had some things I didn't like about Vista, but below is exactly what would happen at least a couple times a day when in SL. I updated drivers, SL, etc etc then just uninstalled Vista and went back to XP. :D

Good to see it was not just me and that maybe they will fix it. I just may install Vista again at that point.

Currently random crashes, no crash reported by Second Life, but here is the series of events:

Screen turns black
After vision is restored, Second Life Window is black
Warning pop up on the lower right hand corner of the primary monitor stating my display drivers stopped responding and have been recovered successfully
Second Life attempts to restore graphics
Second Life fails with a Run Time error, and window locks on the screen, with some of my desktop icons showing through the black window.
I have to force the exe to quit

From Windows Event Logger
APPLICATION:
The program SecondLifeReleaseCandidate.exe version 1.20.2.19742 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Process ID: 140c Start Time: 01c8a2fdd048a4a0 Termination Time: 37

SYSTEM:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I hope they fix it soon for you. :)

And I concur about the no issues thing. I really liked it, but there were just a few things I didn't. Not enough to uninstall but when SL was borking with it I just decided since I couldn't fix it.. I would try again someday. :)

I was working fine after updating. Then a few days later, SL started crashing on startup. The last RC still works tho.

FYI: Just at a ? at the end of the link if it doesn't contain an ? already. That's what turns the embedded image link into an URL.
