Camera Control

Forgive the noobish question, but I'm used to things like WoW where I can get very good at controlling my Av and the camera. I have a couple problems...

1) When I want to use Right-mousebutton to turn the camera and look round, which I do a lot when I want to manipulate objects too, it doesnt recognise that I want to do that, so I end up pulling a radial menu up off my house instead.
Sometimes it works and its great, but how do I make it work when I want it to work?
- When it used to work, I did it by pointing at my head and right clicking, but this no longer works :(

2) When (see above) I get a radial menu I didn't want.. the programming for the radial menu means it'll select "pie" options even when the mouse is a long way away. So my impulse to move the mouse away and click something else to deselect... sometimes means I "Take" a huge part of my house. To me this seems pretty unfriendly but since the program isn't going to change, can anyone please tell me any way I might avoid this?
I play SL and sometimes feel nervous to try to move the camera in case I rip my house apart *again*. Seriously.

Thanks
Lorna.

I've never really cared for using right click for moving the camera. I usually use the highly underused camera controls (View>Camera Controls). This way, you get a really intuitive little control interface that (to me) is more precise. I have no idea why the Lindens never seem to tell people about the "other" way to move the camera. One last tip: The mouse wheel can also be used to zoom while camera controls are open.

Thanks Teeny, that will help when I'm building. Its still not very fluid for just looking around. Would be nice if one of the controls was like a trackball that let you drag the view around too.

I agree 100% with Teeny about Camera Controls. No more flying up to see the top shelf in a store, and the camera is invaluable when building. The only quibble I have is the default position, but it's easy enough to drag the panel to your preferred location.

I believe there are courses in using cam controls from time to time - check Events. :)

You all know about "alt" clicking too right?
if you press down the Alt key (and hold it down) your cursor kinda turns into a ...emm.. i forgot (i'm not logged in right now).. but i think it turns into a camera or magnifying glass ~

anyway.. while holding the alt key down.. if you hold down your left-mouse button at the same time.. you can control your camera really good and pan around even in a circle...

that in combination with the camera controls.. i think you can zoom in on and focus really good.

using the alt(remote) camp non stop, using the e and c buttons to tilt and mouse to circle and zoom in

aswell as disablic the cam restrictions, u don`t need any tools after some practice and can look and zoom trough a 0.001 gap :)

Two and a half years of altcam, and I MISS It when I use any other program or game. I can practically just think out any camera position and angle I want, even through those 0.001 cracks. I really like it.
