I couldn't find any post related to this and I apologies if this has been discussed before. Any way, there’s this things called 2nd Land ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/Isles%20of%20Eden/233/165/23 ) and basically you pay $14us a month and get the land plus 300$L a week. My question is, is this a scam? Has anyone bought land from there? Have you had any problems? And most of all, is it worth it? Please give me your feed back. ALSO if anyone can suggest a better place to buy land at, please post. I appreciate info on this, thanks! ^_^

Usually legit, and many prefer that to ownng mainland. I purchase my land using the in game search tool. Sometimes I check www.sarahnerd.com and buy land from her if I like the price and location.

Those offers are generally completely legit.
However, I don't buy/rent land on private islands as TECHNICALLY those land-owners can revoke my land at any moment. I feel much better having my square meters on the mainland where I pay a reasonable tier fee to Linden Labs and never have to worry about any sort of resident 'covenants' (my favorite reference here is to Ansche Chung's amazingly complex and restrictive building codes), sim-ownership changeovers, etc.

The good side of covenants is that if you want to live in a certain kind of environment and find an island with a covenant that squares with that, you can make your home in a place that won't turn into something you don't like. It's up to your to decide whether the covenant for a given location will prevent you from doing what you like or prevent your neighbors from doing things you don't want to live near.

A private island owner pays $295 per month in monthly land maintenance fees; that works out to a little more than US$2.30 per 512m2 parcel. That L$300 per week works out to about US$4.70 per month. Even if we assume that the island owner has areas of the sim that are not rented out, to make things more attractive, one still has some margin left from the US$14 monthly rental fee for gross profit.
Taking into account the risks assumed by the island owner (less than 100% occupancy, large up-front costs, etc.) this sounds like a good deal to me for renters.

It's just someone's clever way of branding their estate offerings.

Cautionary Note: Re: Stipends promised
06-05-2007 16:39
I currently hold 9 lots on Amelia. Last week, I got my stipend for 7 lots but on Tuesday and not Monday as the Covenant said I would.
The first week, I had 2 lots that were fully paid, but did not receive no stipend. This week...with 9 lots fully paid...at the time of this post I was not paid the $2700 stipend due me. This stipend was due, once again according to the Covenant, on Monday.
Now, before posting this here, I attempted to offer friendship to the Estate holder and it was declined. So I attempts to IM him and he has not answered me and it has been almost an hour. He was indeed online when I sent the IM, but I am beginning to think he has me on iggy.
At this time, I would suggest that those considering this 2nd land program do so with caution.
