Hi, I just sold a 1024 plot of land, and I got a little pop up to say I had sold it for the specified amount, but the money didn't appear in my balance.??? The buyer says he paid, the land has his name on it, but I don't have the money and it hasn't gone to my group.
Has something gone wrong???
What was really weird, was that as soon (and I mean within 30 seconds!) as I had set the land for sale, I had sold it - is that normal??
Please help me if you can.
Thanx, Xara

If the land was owned by a group, it could take as long as overnight for you to receive payment.

Regarding the rapid purchase, yes, this is normal. There are land scanning devices that will report the availablity of land to buyers who will swoop in very quickly to make the purchse.

If you sold group land, it won't appear in your account for a day.
If you look at your 'my account' section on the sl home page you may find it has appeared in your account, but not in your inworld balance yet. (a know but as yet unfixed problem).
The land scanner myth has been done to death on the forums, try a search under 'land scanner' for more information

I don't think land scanners can tell when something goes up for sale or for what price. There are no LSL functions which return this info, making land scanners like you are thinking of, impossible. People find land for sale fast simply because they reload the search for land sales over and over again all day long.

Well, with libsl and the client being open source, I'm not sure I agree that it's impossible to create something that will stomp on Land search over and over, all day and night. As LL has told us more than a few times: if their client can do it, somebody can hack up something else to do it. That discussion is probably better left to another thread, though. Excuse the interruption.

You are right of course ... there is no way to detect when land is for sale. I am sorry for my part in continuning this myth.

From: Nowun Till If you sold group land, it won't appear in your account for a day. My recently sold group land took until the next stipend day to leave the group account and go into my personal bankroll. I sold it on a Saturday and didn't get it until the next Wednesday morning.

I should have been clearer - the land was my own personal land, not belonging to any group

Try relogging. Sometimes this happens to me, but after I relog the correct amount of money is displayed.

True, But as we are hearing from the Seller, who didn't get Money, Not the Buyer who didn't get Land, this seems Completely Irrelevant. My friend confirms to me that If the Land was group owned, or deeded money transfers are held up by a Day or so. If the land was Not group, I'd suggest reporting it to the Lindens right away. A quick examination of the transaction Histories should clear things up, and you will either get your money, or your Land back. Angel.

OK, time to own up. This was COMPLETELY my own fault.
I contacted the buyer, and we had a look at the transaction history. It turns out that I had left the final '0' off the sale price. He had paid me, but as I had got the price wrong, I thought he hadn't. WHAT AN IDIOT. I am soooo embarassed!
It turns out the buyer was a person of outstanding nobility and we resolved the matter in a friendly way. He still got a very nice piece of land for a good deal, and I managed to make some of my money back. He could of course just kept the land at the ridiculous price he paid for it, but was very honourable about it.
So remember, don't stay up all night in SL, or you'll get tired and might make a typo you'll regret!!!

Xara Ouch. Well, that also explains why it sold within 30 seconds!
