Is it just me or does anyone else find forum search of utterly no use whatsoever?
I put 'chat' into search item, select resident answers for the forum to search in and the search comes back ... 'no matches' I repeat with 'history' and it comes back with a thread I'm not interested in.
Come on! Somebody, somewhere in just the last two or three days explained where chat and IM histories get saved to hard drive. Could someone please enlighten me in the absence of search doing anything helpful?
I vaguely remember that the preference for keeping history needs to be set so I think I might be on a wild goose chase.
Regards.

Bilbo,

Go into preferences in world, and under I believe the communications tab there are check boxes to save IM & Chat history.

And Yes, the searh function for the boards is less than helpful... much like the search function in world. LOL

You can set this up in edit/preferences. If memory serves me correct there is a communications tab under which tou can choose to have chat and / or IM saved to file. It saves each IM in a text file with the name of the IM friend or group, and chat under your own name (I think that's right but I'm doing this from my (goldfish) memory). I'm sure if you root around in preferences you'll find it.

bilbo99:

In preferences you will find the drive path were your logs are saved. You can even change it if you would like to make them a bit easier to find.

Incidentally, when I searched Resident Answers for the word "chat" I got back hundreds of results. Not sure what happened with your search.
