I know SL is having lots of grid problems of late (so whats new) but i have found that some of my classified ads which i have set to auto renew are just disappearing. Is this a common problem? Do I need to give it more time before i just put a new ad in anyway, its been a day already and still no sign of them auto renewing. The only good thing is that my account hasnt been debited but I would like the auto renewal to just work. Has anybody else had experience of classifieds not auto renewing?

i read somewhere that Classifieds with... anything other than alphanumeric characters weren't renewing..
so if you had an apostrophy or hyphen or anything like that in your ad it wouldn't auto-new~
Conacher's Clothes = Wouldn't renew
Conachers Clothes = would renew
i don't know if that's true or not.. i'm just passing along what i read somewhere (either on the forums or in the Sellers Guild) ~~

Thanks for that info but the ads i placed did only contain alphanumeric characters in the advert title. Very odd.

It could have happened also because of the network issues of yesterday. I heard of scattered reports of transactions failing.

That may in fact be why I have lost one of my classified ads three weeks in a row. The title of the ad is "Musical Alchemy - Fine Musical Instruments by Persephone Milk." My second ad does not have a hyphen, and it has renewed just fine. I will remove the hyphen and see if this fixes the problem.

I have definetely had this problem (classified's not renewing) for more than a week. And I and others have had it occasionally going back several months now.

Regarding your question whether to wait or not? I wouldn't. My ad was down for three days before I noticed - three very quiet, no-income days. I replaced the ad yesterday, and sales started up again. There's nothing surprising here - proves to me that even a low cost ad is very effective. So spend the dime and get an ad back up  |
