Orientation Island Tutorials Broken?

Well, here I am trying out SL for the first time. Right away I came upon what seems like a broken tutorial. I've been trying to get past the "Communication Tutorial" for a while now. I mean, there's nothing complicated about this so I'm pretty sure I'm following the instructions properly.

Basically, when you get to ChatMaster Phret, the "event" doesn't seem to trigger. When I click on the sign to restart that event, the window text updates and the blue arrow on the right appears and starts flashing. So I click on the arrow, and nothing happens, other than the arrow disappearing. No new window text, and if I do the hula still nothing.

No matter now many times I try it, no go. So am I doing something wrong here? All information I have found so far has not provided any solution. Please help if you can, and thank you very much in advance.

this happens, don't worry too much about it, do as much as you can and when you learn how to leave the island, you'll start to have much more fun.

Is that *really* still broken? There were reports of this MONTHS ago!!!

Well, I'm going to log in right now and try again. I guess since I can't actually create a useful support ticket under a free account, I just have to keep trying and hope that the odds are in my favor ~_^. Wish me luck...

Yes, as Dekka says, go through as many of the tutorials as you care or are able to, then look around the central platform area for a billboard that says "Need Help? visit help island" (to the left of the purple station?), click that billboard and it will give you a landmark. Use that to teleport and leave the Island, and come join the rest of us. Welcome to Second Life!

Thank you very much for your replies... I was fortunate to meet another friendly user who helped me get teleported out of there, phew...!

I was under the impression that you couldn't leave OI until you finished all four required sections. I tried again a little while ago, and still didn't work. But then I finally got out of there with someone's help, and am now gathering up some goodies in Newbie Heaven. Ha ha, that's surely the place for me ^_^.

My intentions here are to look into the commerce aspects of SL. Sounds interesting, and I've got some ideas of my own I'd like to try. But we'll see how that goes ^_^.
