I saw the first national TV ad for what I believe is supposed to be a virtual environment. Has anyone seen a TV, radio or print ad for SL? Do you think we'll ever see them? Should SL advertise?

I think LL should get the grid to allow like 100k online concurrently without major issues, before they start to advertise.

SL gets a lot of advertising by way of news reports. Whenever a segment hits the screens a lift in signups is assured.
However, the news is mostly bad. i.e. about sex or gambling.
What has happened recently? Crackdowns in those two areas.
SL is being shaped to fit the mainstream, one would think.

Zwinky? too close to twink for my liking.

I've been seeing that ad for months, usually during Conan O'Brien. I think SL has nothing to worry about from that world.

I have to agree with Uvas. SL should not advertise on TV until the grid can handle at least a minimum of 100,000 concurrent users and be stable.

True enough, the grid can't seem to handle many concurrent users. I could see a single TV ad sending 20,000 additional users online in an hour. I wonder if the land dumping is a sign they are about to engage on a campaign. Would be nice to have new members greeted with cheap land to buy.

It's like Dollz or Kisekae sets. Which are a lot better.

I don't think they should advertise on TV unless they can handle the user load but I would be very interested to see the commercial! It would be cool to see, if they could handle it.

Another question is, what aspect of SL would LL emphasize in an ad? The example that Marianne posted features the economy and using SL as a fantasy job. I wonder if a TV ad would focus on the social aspects.

Summary?

PRODUCT MAY NOT APPEAR AS THRILLING AS ADVERTISED.
