Game Freeze

I havent played SL for a good few months and now when i start to play after about 5 mins the textures and colors of objects in game flicker then the entire computer freezes. I have a fairly good PC so i know its not a hardware limitation. Is there a simple way to fix this before i format the entire computer?

Sounds much like a hardware problem - graphics card overheating. Check that against other graphics-heavy applications or games or - in a more sanitized way - a graphics benchmark.

Also make sure your drivers are up to date. It could also be that you machine needs a good dusting inside.
