What does it take to find justice as a participant in SL? The idea that there are so many, older players...maybe in the game a month or two, who have either spent money rating someone, what a nice compliment, or being rated by another, wow that even feels nicer. I have chatted, just today, with many an avatar, who were dumbfounded and upset that our ratings were taken away, and the money spent wasted.
Some wondered if there was a plan to reimburse those who have paid into the process of rating? Others wondered, why one of the only feel good things that many avatars do for one another, is being dropped?
There was mention of ratings slowing the whole game down...well they were gone today, and lag was as bad or worse than i can remember it in my short time in the game, since October, 2006.
If anyone would be interested in forming a group to "save the ratings", I would think that is a great idea!

Way way back in time it was just L$1 per rating, L$3 to rate some one if you did all 3 ratings in the list, And at one time you got free lindens every week for good ratings. and there wes bad ratings to. Way back there was lower lag. TP's worked 99.9% of the time. and there was other stuff that I loved but now gone.. That was some of the good old days of SL. and way way way back there was a Tax for stuff you had out in world that you payed every week. I forgot just how it worked but no one liked it. and SL looked not so good at that time. My name I had at that time is now long gone I killed it after a week or so, and had gone back to There.com lol Now SL is my home and There.com is out. What is so funny I sold all my There stuff and got a hell of lot of RL $$ out of it and it was way more then I had put in to There to Start with. That $$ helped me buy a new computer to play SL on. lol

Do people generally demand a refund on a service they have used when it is withdrawn? You rated a person, the rating showed, the service performed as specified. The fact that those ratings will not exist for the rest of eternity does not devalue the service you already received.

Give us a jingle...we already have a President, and Secretary. Do you also go through life judging people by the car they drive or the clothes they wear? Do you judge people in RL by what they've done in their past or what they do in the present? I judge them by how I am treated by them NOW. I don't need a silly number system to tell me if I should think highly of them or not.

I'd be happy to give up the rating system and the L$ I spent with it if they'd raise the number of groups you could join beyond the current 25. I'd love to have 100 but would be content with it increased to 50.

How sad. I hadn't realised they were going this time around, wasn't really paying attention. It was always nice to rate someone you thought highly of, and touching to recieve a rating to show someone appreciated you or something you did.

The fact that those ratings will not exist for the rest of eternity does not devalue the service you already received. How sweet would that be? "Hello, Prudential? I've been paying my premiums on my car insurance for 20 years, and haven't had an accident. Can I have my money back?" As I have said in at least one other thread, I am glad to see the ratings gone. They weren't of any real value. Just some more Bling some people could wave in others faces. Even back in the day when you wererewarded with lindens based on ratings, it was a dubious idea.

*doesn't recall waving her ratings in anyone's face. Doesn't even know what ratings she had* Still enjoyed giving or receiving that little bit extra appreciation though. The insurance returns sound lovely With that back, and all my tax (and certainly my road tax - our roads suck so my contribution can't have helped that much!), I could probably afford a sim and a good long time off work to put my feet up and enjoy it and then I'd probably forget to be sad about ratings
