Radar or Detection

I recall reading something about a way to know if someone is in world at SL even though they may have their "online status" blind to you. The article mentiond radar, without explaining what it meant.

From time to time there are people we'd just as soon not know we are in world. If the online status box is not checked, is the system foolproof? Is the stealth reliable?

Thanks

No it isn't. A simple name search on various websites will gain you the ID# for an AV. A simple script can use that ID to notify when that person is online.

Even easier, sending an IM will give a good clue as to if a person is online or not.

Can you or someone elaborate on the IM aspect, please? In other words, is that a reliable indicator even if the IM is not opened?

Thanks.

If I send you an IM and you are offline, I will get a standard response that says:
'Second Life: User not online - message will be stored and delivered later.'

If I send you an IM and you are online, I get no response at all - unless you have Busy set and then I get your Busy message.

Therefore, sending an IM is the easiest way to tell if a person is online.

Using a script is a more stealth way of determining if someone is online.
