3 hours after the grid came back online.. Login is taking really a long time. I've had to relog 3 times due to other issues. Keep running into an error (intermittently) when attempting to upload textures "the server is having problems"... useful info huh?

Does anyone know how we're supposed to report issues like this? surely they don't want us polluting the JIRA with issues like this.

This was happening to me last night I dont think its the update I think it was like that before then. I was making several attempts to logon. I suddenly realized the login process had gone into slow mode and did the "go for coffee" thing while waiting to login. Lo behold if i let it sit there long enough I would suddenly load into the game.

I've crashed before, but never more than once in a night. Last nite I crashed 8 times and a few times when I relogged, all of my atttachments were gone.

I kept getting the "something has unexpectedly gone wrong" error when trying to log in. When I *FINALLY* got in world, my home sim was down, and my alternate site (where I get sent when my home is down) was ALSO down.

I was just in an island sim, and EVERY TIME I would orient my camera to face a certain direction, the client would quit. I don't mean log off, I mean "poof here's my desktop, why isn't SL running?"

I mean, like 6 times in a row. Alt cam around to look behind me? poof. relog
Alt cam around to look behind me? poof. Relog.
Wait 2 minutes, then alt cam around? poof. Relog.
FLY out the nearest exit in front of me, get out of that building.. alt cam around? poof. Relog.
Turn my avatar around (no alt cam) poof. Relog.
log in, (avatar is still facing that way)... poof. Relog.

Log into another sim entirely? no problems in any direction.

You should be reporting these things in jira. You can specify the version number of the viewer at jira. One of the choices is 1.16.x.

The only problem I had is our home region of Rosieri not coming back up after maintenance for about 4 more hours than it should have, but having finally found how to report it (hidden away on your account page at www.secondlife.com) it got fixed eventually.

Out on a limb here:
Winter, are you Alt/mousing or a key combination to use cam? I went to try their new key commands for the IM windows and realised one or two of them contradict some of my application shortcuts. I opened two Word Processors before realising what was happening. No crashes for me though.

wow !! freaky

Just don't look behind you anymore. ....problem solved.:-)

In all serious, did you try clearing your cache before re-logging? I know it sounds like a cliche, but your cache might have gotten corrupted somehow (I've had it happen to me) and just clearing it solved the problem.

good luck

I figure that someone had some opbject or clothing on them that got corrupted during my DL, so when it was occluded (behind me) I was fine, but as soon as it entered my field of view, I'd crash.

The problem with "you should be posting these things to Jira" is that you CAN'T post things to Jira that are unreproduceable, transient, or intermittent. Okay yes technically you CAN, but the next person posts saying "I can't reproduce this" and the listing goes into the round file. Worse, they'll ask YOU to post a reproduction.. and if it's not happening anymore to you, then you can't. And of course that doesn't mean that the problem is fixed.... just that you're not a victim anymore/at the moment.

The JIRA system relies on the fallacy that anyone experiencing a problem will be able to adequately explain the problem, determine the root cause of the problem, and be able to communicate it. I'm a very technically saavy person.. but frankly, must SL bugs for me end in the phrase "I don't know why, but it's broken".

Since the latest update SL is crashing me out to a full hard reset - which is annoying when streaming live audio to my clubs visitors as I lose all audio output for several minutes while my PC reboots. It never did this before the update and nothing on my PC has changed since - (ie latest gfx drivers etc).

It's really annoying the hell out of me now not to mention having an impact on my business and passion in SL.

Inventory search is going nuts, too. Type a string, finds nothing. Press backspace, finds the results of the original search (!) Bug reported.

I have had that problem with not being able to upload textures. I have found that if I go to the next sim over, I can upload.

Yes, you are right. It's very imperfect, but still there may be something reproducable about the bug that you can't pin down, but that someone else can. It is worth trying, especially if you can describe the problem accurately and have experienced it several times yourself.

My client 'poofed' a few times while building. I wasn't paying enough attention to make a note of what I was doing when it happened, but I wasn't doing anything that I hadn't done many times before while building.... cam-panning, editing and whatnot. The current version of the client does seem a tad fragile.
