My inventory seems to be completely toast

ive got loads of folders which don't open up any more, they are just yellow boxes which do not expand ...

ive tried logging in and out about 5 -7 times ive also re-installed the client, with no success

this has never happened to me before and its my first year anniversary in about 2 days

Is anyone else experiencing this ?

its spread accross my whole inventory from bows, guns, furniture, clothes the whole lot .. its a significant part of my stuff which is no longer accessable

**update**

Scratch it .. i moved to a new location and logged off a few times and its all back now .. sorry folks

I had things vanishing from my sim, as well as items poofing from my inventory. I often heard about inventory loss from customers who were asking for a replacement, but it never happened to myself until a week ago, so I don't think it could have been my own stupidity or carelessness. On one occasion, all copies of a particular item vanished from different folders (where I kept different colors of the same item). Luckily I still had it in my vendors, as well as backup copies of those vendors. And one folder I'm trying to delete keeps coming back from the data cemetary, albeit empty.

It's probably all these backup copies I make in order to avoid losses which lead to losses and bugs in the first place (due to a large inventory). SL must be the only application ever where backup copies lead to a loss of data. It must also use the only database where datasets vanish at random.

how much is too much?

This leads me to ask a question I've had: is it possible to have too much in one's inventory? I have about 4600 items now and am worrying this will slow me down at some point. Anybody know if there is a limit to how much you should carry?

I have well over 10,000 items and things are running just fine for me. the only limitation i have noticed is my guilt at having so many items.

It does take a few moments to load, though.

(if only there was way to check for duplicates)

I have about 30,000 items in my inventory, most of it textures and notecards..eh. I've lost a few things...one an expensive AO and also a wedding ring...but, mostly textures or notecards.

I always try to keep it below 10,000. Currently I'm at 8,500. Especially textures are adding up quickly, and I want to always have a large selection available, not stored away in boxes.
